BJP welcomes Arch-Bishop of Roman Catholic Church Mar Joseph Pamplany’s statements

No Freedom of Expression for Bishops in Kerala

Prime Minister NarendraModiJi’s acceptance is beyond community & religions: V Muraleedharan

Bharatiya Janata Party welcomed the Statements made by Mar Joseph Pamplany, Arch-Bishop of the Roman Catholic Church, Thalassery in Kerala.

Minister of State for External and Parliamentary Affairs Shri V. Muraleedharan along with former Union Minister – Shri KJ Alphonse and Spokesperson Tom Vadakkan responded to the criticism of CPIM and the Congress party in Kerala after the Bishop had expressed the Church’s willingness to hold discussions with Government of India, to protect the interests of farmers.

Exposing the pointless criticism of the ruling left and the Congress on Bishops Statements – V. Muraleedharan said that there was no freedom of expression for bishops in Kerala. “Freedom of Expression is denied to bishops, either because they are Christians or their views favour the government of India,” he said.

Counting a few other instances, there the voices of Bishops were suppressed – Shri Muraleedharan mentioned how the Bishop of Pala was ridiculed for pointing out the dangers of Narcotic Jihad, and its impact on the Christian community.

CPM and Congress say that they are for minorities and freedom of speech but when a Christian bishop speaks his mind or indirectly favours the government of India – they pounce upon him, a ridiculous situation in Kerala – He opined.

Stating that the double standards of Congress and CPM expose their hypocrisy – V. Muraleedharan said that these parties never cared for either farmers or minorities – just wanted them to remain as safe vote banks and they should not be allowed to be moved away.

On attacks on Churches – Shri Muraleedharan questioned Congress’s double- speak – and reminded them of the incidents in Chhattisgarh ruled by INC.

Speaking about the acceptance of the Christian community of BJP and Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi – he mentioned that Meghalaya with over 75% Christians, Nagaland with over 80% Christians and Goa with around 25% Christians have reposed their trust in BJP.

He said that Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra ModiJi’s acceptance was beyond community & religion and that the anti-minority image manufactured by the Congress was not acceptable to Christians and other minorities.
