Yuva Morcha hosts grand National Youth Parliament in Chennai

New Delhi, March 20, 2023: The Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) conducted the National Youth Parliament and Tamil Nadu State Assembly 2026 program at SRM University in Chennai on the 19th of March 2023. The programme was virtually inaugurated by National President of BJP, Shri. Jaggat Prakash Nadda, in the presence of National President of BJYM, Shri. Tejasvi Surya, BJP National General Secretary, Shri Tarun Chugh, BJYM Tamil Nadu State President Shri Ramesh Shiva, and National Incharge of Policy, Research & Training division of BJYM, Varun Jhaveri. BJP Members of Parliament Shri R.K Singh and Shri Jamyang Tsering Namgyal, as well as BJP Tamil Nadu President Shri Annamalai also attended the proceedings over the course of the day, and addressed the participants. It also witnessed participation from other senior party leaders as members of the jury for guidance and conduct.

In his virtual address during the inauguration, Shri J.P. Nadda said that “it is our responsibility to channelise the youth energy, to give due significance to the voices to people and the collective wisdom, to become the part and parcel of a mature democracy.” He called on the youth to prepare for a bright future with full dedication and commitment. He said that the Youth Parliament should discuss the growth and development of India and contribute to making a developed and prosperous India.

He also expressed his happiness at the choice of Tamil Nadu as the venue for the program, and said Tamil Nadu is a “great land of rich history, culture and heritage; it’s a land of temples, Vedas and traditions.” He also congratulated Shri Tejasvi Surya and his team for initiating the National Youth Parliament.

Shri Tarun Chugh congratulated the participants coming from all parts of the country. He advised the youth to utilise this platform as a learning experience in understanding public issues and governance aspects in Parliament. He also encouraged BJYM state units to conduct model assembly programs in every state drawing from the experience.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                             

The National Youth Parliament and Tamil Nadu State Assembly 2026 program included a series of debates, discussions, and presentations on various topics of national importance, such as economic growth, building defence infrastructure, skill development, education, healthcare, etc. The program witnessed participation from more than 300 young karyakartas of BJYM representing all States and Union territories of India. It provided them a platform to express their opinions, thoughts and ideas about the country's development and progress. The program was organised in line with the BJYM vision that youth are not just beneficiaries but also partners in the development of our country. It was motivated by the objective of upskilling the young karyakartas in structured articulation, undertaking research and understanding parliamentary procedures.

Speaking about the program, Shri Tejasvi Surya, the National President of BJYM said that the organising of a model National Youth Parliament is testament to BJP’s tradition of grooming young leaders, in contrast to the dynastic politics of other parties. He said, “Rahul Gandhi may go to foreign universities and say democracy is in danger, but in reality, democracy has never been stronger in India than it is today.”
