Salient points of Press Conference of Union Minister & Senior BJP Leader Shri Piyush Goyal

It is very unfortunate that the Congress MPs are continuously disrupting the proceedings of Parliament. Despite the clear legal aspects, the Congress MPs are trying to mislead the people of the country by making unnecessary statements.

Even though the Congress party did Satyagraha across the country yesterday, according to the news reports there was no public support for it anywhere.

Today Congress MPs came to both Houses of Parliament in black clothes. For how long will the Congress party continue to do this kind of lowly politics? With this behaviour, does the Congress party want to humiliate and demean the temple of democracy, Parliament and disrupt the country's law and order?

Did the Congress MPs come dressed in black to justify Rahul Gandhi's abuses against the OBC community? Was this a protest by the Congress party against the court which convicted Rahul Gandhi? Was it a protest by the Congress party against the decision of the Supreme Court which disqualified Rahul Gandhi from Parliament? Any MP or MLA, who is sentenced to 2 years, is automatically disqualified from the membership of the House.

This protest by the Congress party is in the support of Rahul Gandhi who in 2013 had publicly tore the ordinance related to the Representation of the People Act, under which Rahul Gandhi has been automatically disqualified.

The Lok Sabha Speaker has only performed his responsibility without any discrimination. There are many examples of people who have been disqualified in the past from the membership of the House under the judgment of the Supreme Court.

For example, RJD leader Lalu Prasad Yadav, Congress leader Rashid Masood, JDU's Jagdish Sharma, DMK's Selva Ganapathy, NCP's Mohammad Faizal, SP's Abdullah Azam Khan are just a few examples of MPs from different parties who were disqualified. In these cases, no so-called satyagraha or black clothes were seen in protest.

It is beyond comprehension that Pramod Tiwari, a senior Congress leader, openly says that there should be a separate law for the Gandhi family. He further said that punishment should be given considering the background of the family. This statement once again reflects the Congress party's mentality and conduct as a dynastic and family-based party, which should be strongly condemned.

In the court, Rahul Gandhi also got ample opportunity to speak through his lawyer. There is an army of big lawyers in the Congress party, but the failure of these big lawyers to reach the court in any hearing raises the question whether this is the result of the internal fight of the Congress? Who in the Congress party wants to get rid of Rahul Gandhi? The Congress has eminent lawyers like Abhishek Manu Singhvi, P Chidambaram, Kapil Sibal, KTS Tulsi and Manish Tiwari. Has Rahul Gandhi not found a single correct opinion-giver in the Congress?

According to media reports, before going to the court on March 23, Rahul Gandhi was repeatedly advised by the local Congress leaders to apologise to end the matter, but Rahul Gandhi was so proud that he did not apologise. Congress' mentality from the very beginning has been to insult the OBC community, so Rahul Gandhi did not even think it appropriate to apologise.

Today the Congress leaders are shedding crocodile tears in the name of saving democracy. The kind of misbehavior Congress and other opposition parties are doing before the Speaker of the House, in such a situation there was no other option but to adjourn the House.

Despite repeated assurances from the Speaker that he wanted to run the House smoothly, everyone would get a chance to speak, Congress and other opposition parties were throwing pieces of papers on the Chair. It is clear from this that the intention of the Congress is not to run Parliament. Their intention is to insult the OBC community.

Rahul Gandhi and the Congress party should understand that there is a Narendra Modi Government in the country, rule of the Constitution and all are equal in the eyes of the Constitution.

Rahul Gandhi is not above the law and the Constitution of the country. He has no right to insult the OBC community. The Bharatiya Janata Party strongly condemns the repeated attempts by various Congress leaders to insult the Speaker and the Chairman of the House.

Congress MPs should answer the question of where and on what occasion black clothes are worn? It seems that the Congress party is so desperate and frustrated that they have to depend on "black magic". But the Congress party should know clearly that whatever tactics they adopt, the people of the country are not going to have faith in them. The Congress party has completely lost its trust with the people of the country.
