Salient points of speech of Hon’ble Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Shri Amit Shah after inaugurating Gorata Shaheed Smarak & Sardar Patel Memorial in Bidar and addressing a public meeting after inaugurating development projects in Raichur, Karnataka

Union Home and Cooperation Minister and senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader Shri Amit Shah ji today unfurled the 103 ft high National Flag at Gorata village in Bidar in Karnataka in the memory of the brave martyrs who fought valiantly against the tyranny of Nizams. He also inaugurated the Gorata Shaheed Smarak and Sardar Patel Memorial.

In the same Gorata village the rampaging army of Nizam, who killed and tortured innocent people, had killed hundreds of patriotic people for hoisting the two and half feet high Tricolour. On the same holy land we have today hoisted 103 feet high Tricolour. On the same land where the Nizam had martyred hundreds of patriots, we have now inaugurated memorials in respect, honour and remembrance of these great martyrs.

The installation of the 20 feet high statue of Sardar Patel signifies the great and important role of India's first Union Home Minister Sardar Patel in the unification and making of a strong nation. He ended the rule and tyranny of the Nizams. It was due to the valour, courage and planning of Sardar Patel that Bidar region today is a part of our country. I pay my rich tributes and homage to Sardar Patel.

It gives me great pleasure and happiness to unveil these memorials because I as the then Bharatiya Janata Party President has done the bhoomi-poojan of these memorials and Shaheed Smarak on September 17, 2014. Immediately after the formation of the Bharatiya Janata Party government in the state again we will build a massive Smriti Sthan and start a sound and light show by spending over Rs 50 crores.

In 1947 our country got Independence, but Hyderabad, Bidar and Marathwada regions remained under the clutches of the Nizam. But till today the Telangana government is hesitant in celebrating the Hyderabad Vimochana Divas. We started to celebrate the Hyderabad Vimochana Divas every year, and next year we will celebrate it in Gorata.

The then Congress party government in Karnataka had started the minority reservation of 4 per cent to make its vote bank happy. But the Bharatiya Janata Party government ended it and instead started 2 per cent reservation for Vokkaliga and 2 per cent reservation for Shaiv and Lingayat. Our government has also increased the SC reservation to 17 per cent.

The Congress party gave reservation to minorities due to its policy of appeasement. But by giving reservation to Vokkaliga and Lingayat communities we have done their welfare and ensured their upliftment, and we have done this because we do not believe in politics of appeasement. The Bharatiya Janata Party under the leadership of our Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji believes in 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas and Sabha Prayas,.

The Congress party can never do any good for Karnataka. The Congress party just uses Karnataka as an ATM so that it can send money to Delhi. The Congress party government had made Karnataka as its ATM.

The people of Karnataka cannot tolerate corruption and nepotism, they cannot see their state becoming the ATM of the Congress party. They also know that it is only the Bharatiya Janata Party government which under the leadership of our Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji can ensure fast growth, development and progress of the state. That is why they have decided to give full majority to the Bharatiya Janata Party.

In the last assembly elections we just fell short of the majority. And the JDS sensed opportunity in this and immediately sat on the laps of the Congress party. It got the least number of votes and seats but they shamelessly occupied the Chief Minister's post.

The Congress party and the JDS are the same face of a coin which believes and practices corruption, nepotism and appeasement politics. Wherever the Congress party has run its government, it has done massive corruption.

Before Shri Yeddyurappa became the Chief Minister this Kashetar region was known as Hyderabad - Karnataka region, which was a symbol of our slavery. The Congress continued this and never changed it. It is Shri Yeddyurappa ji who ended this symbol of our slavery by giving it the name of Kalyan Karnataka.

Shri Yeddyurappa ji allocated a budget of Rs 3000 crores for the development and growth of Kalyan Karnataka. And now in the current budget Chief Minister Shri Basavraj Bommai ji has increased this budget to Rs 5000 crores. This shows the commitment and dedication of the Bharatiya Janata Party government for the development and progress of the region.

Under the leadership of Rahul Gandhi the Congress party is getting decimated and is on perpetual decline. Recently assembly elections were held in Tripura, Nagaland and Meghalaya. The NDA government was formed in these three states. And in these states the Congress party could not win more than 5 seats. This is the trend in the country. We have to make the Lotus bloom in Bidar and Raichur also.
