PRESS STATEMENT ISSUED BY
BJP NATIONAL SPOKESPERSON AND MP,
SHRI PRAKASH JAVADEKAR
The suspension and registration of case against public prosecutor A K Singh by the CBI on allegations of collusion with the accused in the multi-crore 2G scam vindicates the BJP’s consistent charge against the Congress-led UPA Government of “using and misusing” of the CBI in various corruption related cases.
The shocking revelation of the CBI prosecutor A K Singh sharing the prosecution strategy to prime accused in the 2G Scam case reveals more about the UPA Government than the CBI itself.
The pattern of cover up by Congress on all corruption and scam cases is now in the open. Sometimes they use the investigating wing and on other occasions they use prosecution wing.
In the 2G case after much public uproar, the Government ordered CBI inquiry in 2009, but which never started effectively till Supreme Court started monitoring it.
The Congress strategy also became clear when they torpedoed the PAC report and is now scuttling the fair probe through JPC. Congress’ consistent refusal to make the then Finance Minister P Chidambaram open for enquiry is also a part of the cover up strategy.
The BJP has already made a written submission before the Select Committee of the parliament on Lok Pal that the appointments of all advocates in the Prosecution Wing of the CBI should be done only after the clearance from the Lok Pal.
The BJP demands a thorough and an independent probe into this sensational and disturbing revelation of nexus between prosecution and the prime accused in the 2G Scam case.
The Congress owes a response to the people of this country as this expose has led to further dilution of whatever little faith the people had on the independence of the CBI.
YASIN MALIK ISSUE
The BJP condemns the inaction of UPA Government in preventing Yasin Malik to stage an anti-India demonstration under the banner of JKLF in Pakistan. The stage was used by Malik and others for their vitriolic attack against India post hanging of dreaded terrorist Afzal Guru.
And to rub India on the wrong side Yasin Malik invited Hafeez Saeed head of LeT, the main conspirator behind killing of 156 people and injuring 302 in 26/11 Mumbai attack, to use his stage for anti-India propaganda.
The BJP demands that the Government should immediately cancel his travelling documents and ensure a proper censure on his anti-India activities in future.
DOUBLE DIGIT INFLATION
The consumer price inflation has once again climbed to over 10 per cent in January 2013. The Manmohan Singh Government has completely failed in both micro and macro management of the Indian Economy and the common man is paying the price.
The GDP growth at 5% and inflation at about 11% is the twin blow to the common man while his income remains constant and the prices of essential commodities are going up phenomenally.
What is worst is the new Finance Minister P Chidambaram is challenging the data of Central Statistics Office (CSO) accepting the fact of apparent slowdown in the economy and the failure of the Government to revive the economic situation.
The unprecedented economic situation has resulted in IIP, which is lower by 0.6% than December 2011. The performance of the core sectors of mining, manufacturing and electricity as also consumer goods sectors have declined all the way.
The current account deficit and fiscal deficit are consistently rising. In such a scenario instead of blaming the external economic situation, the Government should introspect and carryout mid-course correction.
P J KURIAN ISSUE
New revelations everyday in Suryanelli Rape Case has made P J Kurian’s position as Deputy chairperson of Rajya Sabha “untenable”. BJP after consulting with its State Unit demands that on moral grounds he should quit the office till he is absolved of the charges against him.
