BJP National President,
Shri Rajnath Singh's statement on SC observations

The BJP President, Shri Rajnath Singh today said that the Supreme Court's observations made it clear that by ignoring the SC directives on the CBI probe into the coal scam the UPA government played a cruel joke on the judicial system of the country.

Lambasting the Centre Shri Singh demanded that the Law Minister, Shri Ashwini Kumar should resign from his post after these observations made by the SC. "The govt has made large scale changes in the content of the status report filed by the CBI and now it is shying away from owning moral responsibility of its act. The govt is trying to cover up its misdeeds by subverting the investigation process and keeping the court in the dark on the whole issue", he said.

Taking the UPA govt to task he said, "The BJP raised this issue in both the Houses of Parliament and the Congress blamed us for disrupting the proceedings. Now, the SC observation has validated our stand."

"By armtwisting the CBI to share its status report with the Law Ministry and the PMO the incumbent govt has touched a new low. The Prime Minister should also tender an apology to the people of India for desecrating the dignity of our constitutional institutions, he further added.
