Salient points of Press Conference of BJP National Spokesperson Shri Nalin Kohli

Rahul Gandhi’s remarks targeting the Election Commission and India’s democratic framework clearly indicate that the Congress party is willing to attack India’s institutions to deflect the National Herald issue.

It is ironical that while the Congress claims credit for India’s independence, Rahul Gandhi questions India’s democracy on foreign soil and seeks power foreign interference in Indian democracy.

The Congress must come clean on serious charges, like fake entries, advance rents, and suspicious donations.

Bharatiya Janata Party National Spokesperson Shri Nalin Kohli addressed a press conference at the party's central office on Tuesday. During the conference, Shri Kohli stated that Rahul Gandhi’s act of maligning India’s Election Commission and democratic institutions on foreign soil reflects his desire to deflect attention from National Herald issue.

Shri Kohli stated that the silence of the Congress high command and the Gandhi family on the National Herald case, along with the defence put up by leaders like senior leader P. Chidambaram, clearly shows that the Congress is rattled on this issue. Furthermore, Rahul Gandhi’s remarks targeting the Election Commission and India’s democratic system clearly indicate that the Congress is now trying to divert public attention away from the National Herald controversy.

BJP National Spokesperson Shri Kohli remarked that the Election Commission’s impeccable and exemplary track record is there for all to see. In all the elections held so far the, BJP, NDA, and Congress have registered victories and formed governments, even leaders like Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra themselves have won elections to Parliament. So, what basis are they finding fault on the impartiality of the Election Commission now? In reality, the Congress party and the Nehru-Gandhi family do not hesitate to attack India’s constitutional institutions for their political and personal interests. The moot question is—if Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi, or the Congress party believe they have done nothing wrong in the National Herald case, then why are they avoiding speaking on the issue to give?

Shri Kohli stated that Rahul Gandhi, during his frequent foreign visits, has regularly been attacking India's democratic institutions, particularly the Election Commission. In fact, last year, he even went as far as to urge Europe and the United States to intervene in India’s democratic processes. With such a mindset that seeks foreign interference in Indian democracy, how can the Congress party continue to clear credit with the legacy of the freedom movement?

On the issue of the Congress party give a ₹90 crore loan to National Herald, Shri Kohli questioned, "Is Congress a bank?" He also criticized the transfer of crores worth of property to a private organization, Young Indian, for just ₹50 lakh, which is controlled by the Nehru-Gandhi family. Why this asset, linked to the freedom struggle, was handed over to a family-run entity? Why was it not offered to others take over? Shri Kohli demanded that Congress and the Nehru-Gandhi family answer these allegations and should address the issues of proceeds of crime, fake entries, advance rent, and suspicious donations instead of attacking institutions.
