Statement issued by BJP President

Shri Rajnath Singh

The BJP National President Sh. Rajnath Singh today welcomed the reinstatement of Democracy in Nepal. Sh. Singh also congratulated Shri G.P. Koirala, as the next Prime Minister of the country. But BJP National President made it clear that he was not happy with the Government, on the issue of India Left parties meddling in Nepal.

Talking to the media person in Darlaghat in Himachal Pradesh today Sh. Rajnath Singh sought clarification from the Centre Govt. as to what was the “Locus Standi” of Left Party members going to Nepal. He said that there are reports that Maoist of Nepal and Naxals of India have entered into a nexus with other internal extermist forces. Meanwhile Nepal is considering withdrawal of the Red Corner Notice against Maoist, the political scenario therefore is likely to become more worrisome and dangerous for India’s security interests.

The BJP National President also recalled the role of Indian Left having been always against India’s national interest. Whether it was Quit India Movement, Chinese Invasion of India or supporting Emergency including opposing India’s atomic explosions in Pokhran and supporting Chinese atomic test.

He further said that BJP would welcome the Maoist joining mainstream parliamentary democracy, but it would certainly press for and prefer that the Maoist lay down there arms and are totally disarmed before joining the mainstream in Nepal.

Sh. Singh accused the Centre of being soft on Maoist inspite of the fact that the Maoist have entered into a nexus with the Naxals and extremist forces in India and demanded that the Nepalese government should be in consultation with India in isolating and weakening the Maoist element in Nepal

The BJP President said that it was a matter of serious concern that the Maoist prime demand is to abrogate India- Nepal treaty of 1953 and instead enter into a similar deal with China. The treaty provides for India giving military aid and assistance in all forms as and when necessary to Nepal.

He asked the Centre to explain the reasons behind the Indian Left Parties meddling in Nepal’s internal matters and also to let the country know as to what is the agenda of India’s left in the troubled situations of Nepal. Sh Singh asked the centre to enlighten whether Left had been authorised by the centre to carry out its own agenda in collusion with Maoist or they are carrying the India Govt. briefs.

As regards to the Bharat Suraksha Yatra entering the seventh state after Orissa- Himachal Pradesh, Sh. Singh said that the Yatra had been received with euphoria in the state and people are equally anxious and worried on the issues facing the nation raised by BJP.

Sh Singh condemned the dismal performance of the Congress Govt. in Himachal on the water front, failing to provide drinking water even to Shimla.

He also lamented that development projects and plans initiated by the P.K. Dhumal govt. earlier had be blocked with a spirit of political vendetta resulting into decadent phase of development process in Himachal Pradesh. Sh. Singh said there are alot of unexplored options to tackle the unemployment problem in the state, but the State Govt. is not ready to explore those options to eradicate unemployment, hence the State Govt. is not fit to rule anymore.
