The CBI raids in the case of "War Room Leak", have proved beyond doubt that the information leaked out from War Room was of highly sensitive nature and related to the important aspects of national security. The Navy affidavit in the Delhi high court earlier also stated that the leaked information was "prejudicial to the interest of the state and undermining the security of the Nation". Thus the War Room Leak is more serious than what meets the eye.
BJP charges that the Defence Minister Sh. Pranab Mukherjee has misled the Parliament and the Nation, in his statement made on March 22, that the information leaked out was mere "commercial information". Now it is clear that the information in question is valuable to the National Security interests. The revelations elsewhere also point to its linkages with the corruption scam in Scorpene Submarine deal.
The interview given to a magazine by Ravi Shankaran who is related to Naval Chief, also reveals that the Defence Minister was in the know of the things in this matter much earlier than it broke out. The specific reference to "the man who wears a dhoti" and a direct suggestion of Sh. Pranab Mukherjee having influenced the second draft by deleting many findings of Navy's Board of Inquiry in the War Room Leak, is also serious.
The NDA and the BJP has raised many questions, which have remained unanswered :
1. Why all the civilians involved in "War Room Leak" case are not arrested ?
2. Why government is not doing the money trail by ordering the inquiry in to the payments of Rs. 225 Crores by Thales Charitable Trust from its account G635.712 in UBS Bank, Zurich to Account No. 0026324 of LGT Bank, Vaduz, Liechteinstein said to be of Sh. Abhishek Verma, and subsequent transfer of 112 Crore from this Account to the Account of Gruber Research Foundation, Switzerland (Account No. 0139.03A of Bank Credit Suisse) ?
3. Why has the government chosen to remain silent on the matter. Why has the government not ordered an inquiry into the antecedent of these Accounts holders ?
4. The Navy's affidavit has also affirmed that certain "foreigners" are involved in the "War Room Leak". Why has the government not named these foreigners and why no action initiated against them ?
BJP believes that the truth in this case is more serious than imagined and complicity of the government and its diversionary tactics are badly exposed. The Defence Minister by misleading the Parliament and the nation has forfeited his right to occupy the office he holds and as such we demand that he should resign forthwith.
