Investigate oil for food scam at international level |
The BJP National president Mr. Rajnath Singh has said that his party will enact a law, if needed, to ensure the construction of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya when it comes to power with an absolute majority.
Addressing a press conference here on the 3rd day of his Bharat Suraksha Yatra he said that former Prime Minister Mr. Atal Behari Vajpayee during the term of the NDA government, had constituted an Ayodhya cell to resolve the Ram Mandir issue through negotiations and discussions. However owing to the non majority status of the BJP in NDA government, the necessary action regarding bringing in legislation could not be taken up. He said that if BJP comes to power with majority every necessary step will be taken to ensure the construction of the Ram Mandir. He requested the Prime Minister Mr. Manmohan Singh to reconstitute the Ayodhya cell.
He also suggested a nationwide debate on article 370 of the constitution.
He said the UPA government has failed on every front during its two year regime. The image and sanctity of almost every constitutional institution has been lowered. Demanding that the oil for food scam be handed over to the highest investigating agency, he said the agency should be empowered to conduct an enquiry at international level. He said the enforcement directorate investigation into the Indian links in this scam has taken a dramatic turn. There are enough reports to indicate that the E.D. has obtained atleast two letters written by Former External Affairs Minister Sh. K. Natwar Singh to former Iraqi Foreign Minister Tariq Aziz.
Leveling charges against Smt. Sonia Gandhi, Mr. Rajnath Singh said that it seems that 10 Janpath is above all laws. Even the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is not in any position to investigate any matter related to the persons being considered close to 10 Janpath.
Taking up problem of Naxalites he said 220 districts of the country are affected by extremism. He
said the Centre Govt. has declined the demand of the Orissa govt. for providing with extra security forces to curb this problem. He told the reporters that the Chief Minister of Orissa Mr. Naveen Patnaiak had written a letter to the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh asking for the assistance but no reply regarding this matter was received from the PMO.
Stating that Bharat Suraksha Yatra is a decision of the party and not of any individual, Mr. Singh said that BJP is as firm on its ideology as it was ever before.
