Salient Points of speech of Hon'ble BJP National President and Union Minister Shri Jagat Prakash Nadda while addressing the Mashal Rally in New Delhi

25 years ago, the Indian Army achieved victory in the Kargil War. Tomorrow, Kargil Vijay Diwas will be celebrated as the Silver Jubilee of this historic triumph

*****************************

Kargil War was a conflict marked by unique circumstances. Instead of a direct attack, Pakistani soldiers secretly set up a base in Kargil like thieves

*****************************

Enemies had established positions on the peaks of Kargil. Indian soldiers, undeterred by the challenging terrain, climbed these formidable heights to reclaim the peaks. With strategic precision and unwavering resolve, they succeeded in hoisting the tricolor once again on the once-inaccessible heights of Kargil

*****************************

As a representative of the BJP, Hon’ble Shri Narendra Modi Ji had gone there during the Kargil war and encouraged the soldiers

*****************************

During the wars with China in 1962 and Pakistan in 1971, only personal items like clothes, caps and identity cards of the martyred soldiers were returned to their homes. The then Prime Minister Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee decided that soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice would be honored with a full state funeral in their villages, with the government and army taking responsibility for these arrangements

*****************************

When the UPA government’s Defence Minister was asked why roads for soldiers on the border were not being built, the response was that there was no money allocated for this in the government's priorities

*****************************

Previously, border convoys had to use one-way roads. Today, the army travels on double-lane roads and concrete bridges, allowing them to move from Arunachal Pradesh to Ladakh in just one and a half days

*****************************

Under the Congress government, the Indian Army faced shortages of fighter planes, helicopters, and bulletproof equipment. Today, however, India has achieved self-reliance in manufacturing defense equipment and is also exporting it globally

Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha will celebrate Vijay Diwas by lighting 'Vijay Jyoti' in every district to honor our brave soldiers and convey that the entire nation of 140 crore people stands with them

Hon’ble Bharatiya Janata Party National President and Union Minister Shri Jagat Prakash Nadda participated in the Mashal rally at Connaught Place in Delhi and inaugurated the exhibition on the eve of Kargil Day on Thursday. Addressing the karyakartas present at the event, Shri Nadda paid homage to the brave soldiers who sacrificed everything for the country during the challenging circumstances of the Kargil War. During the event, BJP National General Secretary Shri Sunil Bansal, National Secretary Shri Manjinder Singh Sirsa, Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha National President Shri Tejasvi Surya, Delhi BJP President Shri Virendra Sachdeva along with other party leaders and officials were present on the stage.

Shri Nadda expressed his pride in participating in this historic event. He noted that Shri Tejasvi Surya announced that Kargil Vijay Diwas will be celebrated as Rajat Jayanti to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the Indian Army's victory in Kargil. By celebrating Kargil Vijay Diwas, the party will pay tribute to the brave soldiers who sacrificed their lives to prevent Pakistan from crossing into Indian territory. The Kargil War was a conflict of strategic significance. Instead of a direct assault, Pakistan executed a covert invasion of the Kargil region. Our soldiers faced severe conditions and fought valiantly against the enemy, who had established positions at the strategically crucial peaks of Kargil. Despite the challenges, the Indian Army's strategic brilliance led to the triumph and the unfurling of the tricolor on Kargil's peak.

Hon’ble BJP National President noted that not many people are aware that during the Kargil War, Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji was the BJP in charge of North Indian states. As a representative of the BJP, he visited Kargil to congratulate the soldiers and conveyed that the entire nation stood with the bravehearts. The then Prime Minister late Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee also affirmed that the martyrdom of any soldier belonged not only to their family or region but to the entire country, and their last rites would be conducted with full state honors.

Shri Nadda recalled that during the 1962 Indo-China war and the 1971 Indo-Pakistan war, only the remains of soldiers returned home, not their bodies. However, Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji assured that any soldier who sacrificed their life for the country would receive a procession with full state honors.

Hon’ble BJP National President highlighted that during the UPA government when the then Defence Minister was asked why good roads were not constructed in border areas, the response was that there were insufficient funds to address the issue. During the previous government, army trucks in hilly areas had to navigate through one-way traffic. However, in the past 10 years, under the leadership of Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji, the army has been provided with double-lane roads connecting to the border. Now, the army can reach from Arunachal Pradesh to Ladakh within 1.5 days.

Shri Nadda stated that under the Congress government, there was a shortage of fighter planes and helicopters and no new purchases were made. Bulletproof equipment was also lacking. Today, however, India not only manufactures its own bulletproof gear but also exports it to other countries. India now produces fighter aircraft and helicopters domestically. This is a testament to India's development. If Pakistan tries to provoke incidents like those in Uri and Pulwama, it will receive a strong response through surgical and air strikes. Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha will celebrate Vijay Diwas by lighting ‘Vijay Jyoti’ in every district, honoring our brave soldiers and sending a message that the entire nation of 140 crore people stands with them.
