Bharatiya Janata Party National Spokesperson and Rajya Sabha MP Dr. Sudhanshu Trivedi addressed a press conference at the party’s headquarters on Wednesday. During the conference, Dr. Trivedi sharply criticized Rahul Gandhi's political stunt of visiting the sensitive area of Sambhal in Uttar Pradesh and the Congress's selective politics. He also highlighted the worsening economic situation and crumbling law and order in Punjab under the Aam Aadmi Party government while condemning the shooting incident at the sacred Golden Temple.
Dr. Trivedi stated that while Parliament is in session, the INDI Alliance's disarray and disregard for the Indian Constitution are evident to the nation. In the Rajya Sabha yesterday, 42 notices were submitted under Rule 267, aimed at discussing other topics and halting parliamentary proceedings. These notices were submitted by different parties within the INDI Alliance for nine different subjects, with no two allies submitting a notice for the same topic. It is evident that the Congress Party is working on its own agenda, while the other INDI Alliance members have their own ways. After failing to gather the allies in the parliament, Rahul Gandhi is now trying to visit the sensitive area of Sambhal for mere formality. SP senior leader Ram Gopal Yadav has said that Congress is doing mere formality.
BJP National Spokesperson Dr. Trivedi, commenting on Ram Gopal Yadav's statement, said that the Congress is acting out of compulsion rather than formality. Congress had remained silent on the issue until now, but Rahul Gandhi's decision to visit was driven by the need to gain media attention. This move came after the party's inability to rally support from the INDIA bloc allies, revealing their frustration. There is a notable conflict between the two parties, with the SP shifting its stance, prompting Congress to follow suit out of compulsion. The Congress may have felt that, despite being the larger party, the SP was gaining more attention and mileage. As a result, Congress chose to take action to secure better photo opportunities and media coverage for greater mileage.
Dr. Trivedi remarked that the effort appears to be motivated by the competition between the two parties to appeal to their core vote bank, lacking any genuine sensitivity or sympathy from the Congress party. As the leader of the opposition, Rahul Gandhi should maintain an impartial stance on issues affecting the entire country, particularly in states governed by the Congress. Rahul Gandhi's effectiveness should be evaluated impartially. However, we must question his lack of response in several significant incidents. On 18th June 2024, an illicit liquor tragedy in Tamil Nadu claimed many lives, yet Rahul Gandhi did not visit or express empathy. Similarly, in February 2024, during the infamous Sandeshkhali incident, one of the most tragic events in India, he failed to show concern for the dignity of the women affected. He also did not empathize with the death of the Tamil Nadu BSP president. In 2023, when Himachal Pradesh was hit by a natural calamity, even though the Congress was in power in the state, Rahul Gandhi showed no empathy or support. Similarly, on August 9, 2024, the RG Kar Hospital incident, which left a significant impact on humanity, did not receive any expression of empathy from Rahul Gandhi. There was also no statement from him regarding the Palghar mob lynching in 2020. In 2022, during the violence in Karauli, Rahul Gandhi remained silent and did not show any empathy or concern.
BJP National Spokesperson Dr. Trivedi pointed out that when a Dalit girl was harmed in Karhal, there was no outcry or empathy from anyone, and no attempt was made to visit or inquire about her condition. In Karnataka, where the Congress government is in power, no empathy is shown for what happens to party leaders. A Congress leader, who was also a member of the municipal council, had his daughter, Neha Hiramat, stabbed and killed in front of a camera. After this, Rahul Gandhi did not make any statement, and the Karnataka Home Minister called it a personal matter, claiming it was a fight due to a relationship. The Home Minister of Karnataka made such an irresponsible and shameful statement, and Rahul Gandhi did not feel any compassion.
Dr Trivedi pointed out that in Karnataka, a mob attacked the house of Congress's Scheduled Caste leader, Akhanda Srinivas Murthy, with a brutal assault. Rahul Gandhi did not show any compassion. This clearly indicates that there is no real sense of empathy in this matter. Instead, political gains and losses are being weighed to decide what action should be taken. Priyanka Gandhi's statement gives the impression that there is now competition within the Congress party, similar to the INDI alliance. It seems that two poles have emerged — Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi. In the past, the country experienced unipolar politics, but the BJP has transformed it into a bipolar system. It now appears that the Congress party is on the brink of entering a new era of bipolar politics.
BJP National Spokesperson Dr. Trivedi emphasized that if Rahul Gandhi truly had compassion and genuinely wanted to handle the situation responsibly, he should have provided prior notice. Rahul Gandhi has Z-plus security with ASL (Advanced Security Liaison) protection. The Country’s Home Minister and Defence Minister have ASL security along with Rahul Gandhi. It refers to high-level, advanced security arrangements, the second highest level of protection after the Hon'ble Prime Minister. For individuals with such security, whenever they need to travel, their program must be communicated in advance. A police team reaches the location beforehand to sanitize the area and ensure it is secure before giving clearance. Rahul Gandhi neither had a sincere intention to go nor did he follow the necessary procedures and responsibilities regarding his security in an official manner. It was just a formality, and after that, he returned without continuing the visit. The Congress party's so-called 'Yatra' was primarily driven by internal competition within the INDI alliance, fueled by the urgency of different parties to maintain control over their core voter base. The INDI alliance's unification stems from a desperate attempt to capture the core vote, but there appears to be no concern for the public in this effort.
Dr Trivedi pointed out that since the Aam Aadmi Party assumed power in Punjab, the state's financial condition has deteriorated, and crime rates have surged. With the AAP in charge, incidents of murder and the boldness of criminals have escalated. It is unprecedented in Punjab's history for criminals to be freed by attacking a police station, yet this took place under the AAP government. The shooting at the gates of the sacred Golden Temple today and the attempted assassination of a former Deputy Chief Minister highlight the extent of the deteriorating situation in Punjab. The primary cause of this is the internal conflict within the Aam Aadmi Party. There appears to be a rift between the unofficial Chief Minister of Delhi and the official Chief Minister of Punjab, with their attention focused more on internal disputes than on governance and administration. As a result, the people of Punjab are struggling with various issues.
