Hon’ble National President of Bharatiya Janata Party, Shri Jagat Prakash Nadda addressed at Bunkar Mahasammelan in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh on Monday. Shri Nadda underscored the welfare initiatives undertaken by the BJP government for the weaver community, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi Ji and criticized the congress for neglecting the welfare of these artisans. During the event, Lok Sabha In-Charge Shri Satish Dwivedi and other leaders were present on the stage.

Respected Shri Nadda stated that we are all incredibly fortunate to have Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji, who has relations from Kashi, is leading us on the path of development. Prior to 2014, the nation was engulfed in an atmosphere of apathy and negativity. There was a widespread loss of faith in leaders' ability to enact meaningful change. This sentiment was shared even among the weavers, artisans, and skilled individuals in society. Since 2014, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji has instilled trust, faith and enthusiasm in people, showing them that change is possible and guiding them towards progress. We can proudly say that the apathetic India before 2014 is now advancing on the path of 'Viksit Bharat.' Hon’ble PM Modi Ji has shown care for every section of society, addressing even the smallest issues faced by people. He has also extended his support to the traditional weaver community. 'Vocal for Local' isn't just a slogan; it's the essence of India's economy. India's textile industry is incredibly diverse, with distinct styles in different regions. Textiles from the North differ from those in coastal areas, and central India's textiles vary from those in the west. However, one common thing is the skill of our weavers. The government has effectively encouraged weavers from all regions, recognizing and supporting their talents.

Hon’ble Shri Nadda pointed out that while Mahatma Gandhi had promoted Khadi, the Congress party had neglected it over the past 70 years and become indifferent towards it. However, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji has revitalized Khadi, mentioning it in his 'Mann Ki Baat' and interviews, thus bringing it back into the mainstream. The government proactively promoted the "One District One Product" initiative, focusing on developing traditional skills. The Prime Minister ensured the enhancement and empowerment of these skills, facilitating their transformation into modern technologies. Weavers who were once out of business have now made a comeback, achieving turnovers in crores. Thanks to the efforts of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji, they've received training, upgrades in technology and financial assistance. The Prime Minister also initiated a stipend of ₹2 lakh in textile skill institutes. Additionally, the BJP government has provided Mudra loans worth ₹1 crore 20 lakh.

BJP National President highlighted that the BJP government has made sure there's access to better quality yarn to enhance textile standards. Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji initiated the celebration of National Handloom Day on August 7, honoring and recognizing the contributions of the weaver community. Today, there has been a fivefold increase in the turnover of the handloom sector, threefold increase in khadi turnover and up to fivefold increase in the turnover of ready-made khadi garments in India. Previously, Khadi turnover ranged from ₹20 to 25 thousand crore, but now it has surged to ₹1 lakh 30 thousand crore, indicating significant progress and expansion.

Shri Nadda highlighted that approximately 1 crore people are working in the handloom and weaver sector. On the occasion of the 9th Handloom Day event, around 3 thousand weavers gathered together at a single platform to exhibit their products at Bharat Mandapam. Their issues were also listened to collectively, and discussions were held on what further steps need to be taken. The work that Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji has done for the weaver community in the last ten years, no government has done in the past 70 years. Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji will establish an 'Ekta Mall' in every city, where all the products ranging from the skills of weavers to artisans will be showcased in one place.

Respected Shri Nadda stated that there is no greater ambassador for our Indian skills, weavers, artisans, and handloom than Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji. Previous governments used to neglect the products of weavers, whereas Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji, whenever he goes anywhere in the world and meets any national leader, presents the attire of some state with a complete explanation and gifts it. In the G-20 summit, everyone was given handloom and artisan-made items. Every effort has been made to bring about a change in the lives of the weaver community and to promote the traditional skills of the country. In Banaras, through the Deen Dayal Hastkala Sankul, work is being done to bring about a change in the lives of weavers with an investment of ₹300 crore, so that they can lead from the front in terms of ranking.

Hon’ble Shri Nadda highlighted that just as Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji has shown concern for weavers, he has shown concern for every sector of the country. Under Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji's leadership, India stands among the progressive nations today. What was once considered a corrupt nation is now established on the map of the world and is advancing under Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji's leadership. On June 4th, Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji will become Prime Minister for the third time, and this will be very big news for the world. The world will believe that now no one can stop India from moving forward. The power to move the country forward will come to Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji after June 4th, but on June 1st, this power lies with the people to make the right use of their voting power. On June 1st, people need to make the right use of their voting power to empower Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji so that India can leap forward into becoming a Viksit Bharat by unleashing the power of development.

Respected Shri Nadda stated that the face of Varanasi has changed significantly; highways have been constructed, wide roads have been built and lights have been installed. Today, 2 lakh tourists visit Varanasi every day. The railway station has been renovated and in the future, world-class railway stations will be built. Infrastructure development has not only happened in Varanasi but throughout the country under PM Shri Narendra Modi Ji's leadership. In the past ten years, 55 thousand kilometers of national highways have been built, with approximately 24-25 kilometers of roads being constructed every day. Nearly one lakh seventy thousand kilometers of rural roads have been built, and paved roads are being extended to every village. New dimensions of development are being written, the economies of all countries have stumbled, and India's economy has moved from the 11th position to the 5th. After Hon’ble PM Shri Narendra Modi ji becomes Prime Minister on June 4th, India's economy will become the third largest.

Hon’ble National President of BJP, Shri Nadda stated that the opposition says that there is a lot of unemployment, so the truth is that the opposition has indeed become unemployed. Investing ₹10 lakh crore in road infrastructure can catalyze India's economic growth, leading to a surge in employment opportunities. With a thriving market, India could ascend as a global superpower, unstoppable in its trajectory forward. Shri Jagat Prakash Nadda appealed to the weaver community to ensure BJP's victory and support Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri  Narendra Modi Ji.
