Salient Points of BJP National Spokesperson Shri Gaurav Bhatia’s Press Conference

People across Bengal and the entire country, including women, doctors, and lawyers, are outraged and actively protesting, calling for Mamata Banerjee's  resignation

*******************

West Bengal police did not investigate the case as a gang rape, as it would involve making additional arrests, which the Mamata Banerjee government preferred to avoid

*******************

Why was the post-mortem of the deceased conducted at RG Kar Hospital, and why was it done under the supervision of the same principal whom the CBI is now questioning?

*******************

Despite all this, Mamata Banerjee organized a march with utter shamelessness. By doing so, she is essentially admitting her own failure

*******************

Mamata Banerjee, by disregarding the Constitution, failed to take any concrete action. Instead, she destroyed both the dignity of a woman and crucial evidence

*******************

Why didn’t Mamata Banerjee transfer the case to the CBI for swift action? Why did the Bengal police deceive the deceased’s family? What evidence was destroyed during those 3-4 hours?

*******************

Priyanka Gandhi, who champions the slogan "Ladki Hoon Lad Sakti Hoon" only challenges BJP-ruled states. At the same time, Akhilesh Yadav, who demands DNA testing, humiliates the victim

*******************

Rahul Gandhi was silent on the issue initially and only tweeted about crimes against women in BJP-ruled states six days later, without addressing crimes in INDIA coalition states

*******************

INDI Alliance’s sole agenda is to downplay the incident. They are indifferent to whether the victim gets justice. Those who uphold the Constitution should clarify whether this isn’t a violation of it

*******************

TMC goons tried to destroy the CCTV evidence at the medical college. The Calcutta High Court has described this as a failure of the state machinery

*******************

West Bengal Governor stated that women are not safe in the state, even though the Chief Minister is a woman. The National Commission for Women has also issued a notice to the TMC government, yet Mamata Banerjee has not resigned

*******************

There is no law and order in Bengal and there is a complete disorder in Mamata Banerjee's head

Bhartiya Janata Party National Spokesperson Shri Gaurav Bhatia addressed a press conference at the party's central office on Monday. During the conference, Shri Bhatia sharply criticized the Mamata Banerjee government in West Bengal and raised concerns about the unsafe environment for women under TMC rule. Shri Bhatia highlighted that the Governor of Bengal has noted that women are not safe in the state, even though the Chief Minister is a woman. The National Commission for Women has also issued a notice to the TMC government, but Mamata Banerjee has not yet resigned.

Shri Bhatia expressed outrage over the horrific crime committed in Kolkata, stating that while the CBI is questioning the principal of RG Kar Medical College, the conduct of Mamata Banerjee, who is both the Chief Minister and holds the portfolios of Health and Home Ministries, has sparked nationwide anger.

BJP National Spokesperson Shri Bhatia stated that the primary purpose of this press conference is to demand justice, accountability, and resignation. Justice must be served to the deceased, who was brutally raped and murdered, and Mamata Banerjee should resign from her positions. This press conference echoes the voices of every Indian citizen, from West Bengal to every other state, including women, advocates, common citizens, and doctors, who are both outraged and agitated by these events.

Shri Bhatia expressed deep sorrow, stating that it is with great pain that we acknowledge how Mamata Banerjee has become 'Mamata the Destroyer.' Through her misdeeds, she has destroyed the dignity of women, including a doctor who was selflessly serving society. She has tarnished the rule of law, earning the title of an anarchist. Mamata Banerjee has also been involved in destroying crucial evidence in this heinous crime. As a Chief Minister, her actions are both deliberate and negligent, undermining the legal process, making it harder to ensure that the accused receive the punishment they deserve, which, under the new Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita, includes the death penalty for such crimes.

Shri Bhatia further emphasized that why Mamata the Destroyer actively obliterated vital evidence in this case? Most alarmingly, she is also undermining the sacred Constitution of our country. Her actions are not only obstructing justice but also eroding the fundamental principles on which our nation stands. Mamata Banerjee, now widely referred to as 'Nir-mamata Banerjee’ stands in support of criminals, instead of taking action against the former principal, who was responsible for the safety of the students. Far from holding him accountable, she has rewarded him instead.

BJP National Spokesperson Shri Bhatia stated that today, every channel is showing that the victim was a brave soul who fought to protect her dignity, yet Mamata Banerjee's law was nowhere to be found. Mamata Banerjee stood with the culprits. Shri Bhatia expressed that with the reports coming out now, and with great responsibility as a citizen, as a brother to the victim, as a spokesperson for the Bharatiya Janata Party, and as a lawyer, raised these questions that are also the questions of the whole West Bengal. Why is Mamata Banerjee being called the Destroyer of Evidence? Everyone knows that the first 48 hours of the crime is known as the 'golden 48 hours of investigation’ in which the police gather crucial evidence. In cases of rape or murder, it could include hair strands, semen, and other critical evidence. However, any delay weakens the prosecution's case. Mamata Banerjee, who is also the state's Home Minister, was in charge of the police, and she attempted to weaken the case.

Shri Bhatia further questioned, why, after stating that she should transfer the case to the CBI, she did not immediately hand over the investigation to the CBI when such a heinous crime was reported? Why was swift action not taken? The negligence was not minor. The investigation was only transferred after the Calcutta High Court issued orders. Mamata, the Destroyer, did not even initiate the transfer of the investigation on her own.

National Spokesperson Shri Bhatia alleged that the West Bengal police, following Mamata Banerjee's orders, were misleading the deceased’s family. According to the Calcutta High Court's order, this issue is clearly documented, and the deceased’s mother has also conveyed the same. Initially, the family was told by the hospital that their daughter was ill. Later, they were informed that she had committed suicide. When the deceased’s family arrived at the hospital, they had to wait nearly 3-4 hours and were not allowed to see their daughter's body. What evidence was destroyed during those 3-4 hours?

Shri Bhatia stated that the principal, who should have been suspended and expelled, was instead reinstated in Kolkata within 12 hours. The Calcutta High Court has also criticized this decision. The deceased's family has expressed concern that the crime involved not just a single perpetrator but multiple individuals. When the investigation was under the police, they did not investigate the possibility of gang rape. This was likely because gang rape cases would involve more arrests, which the West Bengal police were reluctant to make. Therefore, the possibility of gang rape was not deemed worthy of investigation.

BJP National Spokesperson Shri Bhatia raised a major question that when an incident of murder following rape occur, the post-mortem is a crucial piece of evidence. The post-mortem was not conducted at another hospital by a neutral team of doctors but was hurriedly done at the same location, while the principal of RG Kar Medical College at the time had deemed the case an ‘unnatural death’ and did not consider filing an FIR. The deceased’s body had 15 injuries, indicating that the possibility of gang rape should be explored. Additionally, 150 ml of semen was found in the deceased's vaginal canal, which points towards gang rape. All these points lead to the conclusion that Mamata Banerjee, by disregarding the Constitution, did not take any concrete action and instead facilitated the destruction of evidence, which is highly concerning.

Shri Bhatia condemned Mamata Banerjee's actions, describing her march as a display of extreme shamelessness that left the entire nation embarrassed. Against whom Mamata Banerjee was marching? There is no law and order in Bengal and there is a complete disorder in Mamata Banerjee's head. As Chief Minister, it is her duty to ensure law and order, yet she failed to protect the deceased and apprehend the criminals. Instead, she organized a march of shamelessness. This march itself proves Mamata Banerjee's failure and that she should resign immediately, as her actions acknowledge her own ineffectiveness.

National Spokesperson Shri Bhatia noted that the Supreme Court, recognizing the severity of this atrocity, has scheduled a hearing for the case for tomorrow. The Calcutta High Court has already made its observations, and the Governor of West Bengal has indicated that women in Bengal appear to be unsafe. This is concerning given that the state’s Chief Minister is a woman. The National Commission for Women has also issued a notice. Despite this, Mamata Banerjee's arrogance remains unchanged, she continues to cling to her chair, regardless of whether she can effectively manage Bengal or not.

Shri Bhatia stated that ‘RG’ does not stand for Rahul Gandhi anymore but rather symbolizes a "Rajnitik Giddh" (Political Vulture). Initially, Rahul Gandhi was silent on the issue and only tweeting about it six days later. His tweet included crimes against women in BJP-ruled states, seemingly to gain political support. He did not address crimes in states governed by the INDI Alliance. Likewise, ‘RG’ was accompanied by ‘PVG’, who also posted a similar tweet.

BJP National Spokesperson Shri Bhatia stated that Priyanka Gandhi Vadra tweeted that the atrocities against women in Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, and Kolkata have shaken the entire nation. Once again, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra resorts to her low-level, deceitful politics, claiming to be a fighter, yet putting on a show of standing up for women's rights. When it's about BJP-ruled states, or when they're forced to speak up due to public pressure, they reluctantly issue statements. Akhilesh Yadav, who talks about DNA tests, shames victims and humiliates them. If the accused is from the Samajwadi Party, like Moid Khan or Nawab Singh Yadav, they rush to protect them. This is why the public has rejected them. They may aspire to power, but the people will teach them a lesson, making them forget their disgraceful statements about DNA tests. Supriya Sule also tweeted, generalizing incidents across the country, but when it comes to victim shaming, Akhilesh Yadav, Rahul Gandhi act like "Rajnitik Giddh" (political vulture).

Shri Bhatia stated that the modus operandi of Priyanka Gandhi and Supriya Sule is to generalize heinous crimes, making them seem ordinary and then consider their responsibility fulfilled. Whether or not the victims receive justice is of no concern to them. TMC goons attempted to intimidate peaceful protesters exercising their constitutional rights. Those who uphold the Constitution but don't follow it should be questioned about this blatant violation. TMC's apparent goons entered the medical college like miscreants, aiming to destroy crucial CCTV evidence to cover up the crime.

BJP National Spokesperson Shri Bhatia emphasized that the Calcutta High Court has stated that there has been a complete failure of state machinery in West Bengal. These words are significant and will have far-reaching implications. When such a statement comes from a High Court, it indicates that law and order in West Bengal have collapsed, which is a grave concern. The Bharatiya Janata Party will continue to fight vigorously for justice and the dignity of every woman. Our leaders stand with the people of West Bengal in this fight for justice and this is our commitment.
