The BJP president, Shri Amit Shah ji, addressed a massive Sankalp Maha Rally in Etawah of Uttar Pradesh on Thursday, appealing to the people to oust the corrupt and anarchic SP government from the state and bring in its place a pro-development, welfare-oriented government of the BJP. Shri Shah said when he was given the charge of Uttar Pradesh for the 2014 general elections, “I had said that the road to Delhi goes through Lucknow” in the first rally addressed in Varanasi. and the people of Uttar Pradesh gave all-out support to the leadership of Shri Narendra Modi to bring about a change in the country and put it on the track of development. He said that the credit for the majority government of the BJP at the Centre went to Uttar Pradesh.
The BJP president said, “I see an atmosphere more electrified in 2017 than what I had witnessed in 2014; the BJP is going to form the government in Uttar Pradesh with a two-third majority.” He said that the moment he stepped on the soil of Etawah, the memory of martyred soldier Nitin Yadav, who gave his life to secure the border, crossed his mind. “The whole country salutes the land of hero Nitin Yadav, his bravery and sacrifice,” he said. Attacking the SP, BSP and Congress, he said there was a time when these parties were entrusted with the task of securing our international borders [he said that he was referring to the previous government as that of the SP, BSP and Congress because “the Congress did not enjoy a majority in Parliament; the UPA government could run only because the SP and BSP were supporting it”.] “Any Alia, Malia or Jamalia would attack the country’s borders those days”; our soldiers would be beheaded and insulted, Shri Shah said, adding that now “our courageous soldiers have given a befitting reply to the enemies of the country by means of the surgical strikes for the first time since Independence”. He said, “We will not tolerate any fiddling with the borders of the country,” adding that the BJP was felicitating soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the nation for its security.
The BJP president said, “The Sonia-Manmohan government broke all records of corruption. That government of the SP, BSP and Congress got into one corrupt deal after another. They indulged in scandals worth Rs 12 lakh crore in the 10 years of its tenure. Space, under the ground, land, skies and the seas—they spared none of corruption. These 12 lakh crore rupees were jointly usurped by the SP, BSP and Congress.” He then added, “In the two-and-a-half years of the Modi government, not one case of corruption has surfaced; even our opponents cannot accuse us of corruption.”
Shri Shah said that the Modi government has initiated a scheme for the poor every day on an average, from which the whole country is benefitting, but “the welfare schemes are not reaching the people of Uttar Pradesh because an uncle and his nephew are fighting over commissions”. He said that the Akhilesh Yadav government was not letting the benefits reach the people. “The Modi government has allocated Rs 1 lakh crore more per annum for the development of Uttar Pradesh, but not a fraction of it is going to reach the people of the state,” he said, adding, if the people wanted a change in Uttar Pradesh and if they wanted the state to prosper, the only way to do so was bringing in a government of the BJP. “Our government will account for every penny of the people’s money,” he said.
Slamming the pathetic law-and-order situation in Uttar Pradesh, the BJP president said, “The Akhilesh Yadav government of UP has turned law-and-order in the state into a joke.” He quipped, “In UP, law-and-order translates to ‘lo aur order do’ (swindle money and issue orders).” Mentioning the incident at Jawahar Bagh in Mathura, he asked how it was possible for criminals to execute such an act in the middle of the city without complicity of the state government. “Enjoying protection from the ruling Samajwadi Party, the land mafia has grabbed lands of the poor in villages and small towns. The day the BJP forms government in Uttar Pradesh, the mafioso will have to return the lands or leave the state,” he said. Then turning his focus on the BSP supremo, he said, “Sushri Mayawati says that she is capable of improving the law-and-order situation in the state, but it was under her rule that saw a horrifying increase in the rate of incidents of rape; also, about 1,100 Dalits were killed in that period.” He said that the law-and-order situation in Uttar Pradesh could be corrected neither by the bua nor by her nephew; a BJP government alone could correct it. “It was the Kalyan Singh government that had introduced law-and-order in Uttar Pradesh; the criminals either went underground or did not venture into the state during that period; we will bring such a government once again in Uttar Pradesh,” he said.
Shri Shah said, “The SP has become a den of criminals. The BSP is no better,” adding that “the BJP is a party of patriots; there is no place for a criminal here”. He said that the game that the SP and BSP had played through their cyclical rules in the past 15 years did no good to Uttar Pradesh. He told the people that it was where the BJP formed a government that the villages had been electrified, they had been connected to the cities, every farm had been irrigated; the place has seen investments worth billions, but there was no such development seen in Uttar Pradesh. He said the state neither had a good employment record nor did it have adequate education and health facilities. “I’d like to appeal to the people of Uttar Pradesh to bring in a BJP government in the state once; the youth of the state will not have to venture out for jobs thereafter; the BJP government will make jobs available right here in the state,” he said, adding that the central government of the BJP was looking for solutions to every problem under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji.
Mocking at Rahul Gandhi’s mention of “potato factories”, the BJP president asked, “How can a person who does not know that potatoes are not made in factories but grown in fields serve Uttar Pradesh?” He said that the people of Uttar Pradesh or the farmers of Mainpuri, Saifai and Etawah did not need ‘potato factories’; they needed factories to make chips so that they could realize a good price for their potato produce, he said. He promised that the BJP government, if formed in the state, would bring potato chips factories to the region. He said that the UPA government stayed in power for 10 years with the support of the SP and BSP and the Congress was trying to repay its debt to the latter by participating in these elections while knowing very well that it cannot form a government of its own in Uttar Pradesh. “The Congress is participating in these elections as ‘votkatva party’ to do nothing but spoil the chances of the potential winner; Rahul Gandhi is touring Uttar Pradesh with an ulterior motive to see the SP or BSP win,” he said.
Cautioning the people of Uttar Pradesh, Shri Shah asked whether they wanted a government following Shri Narendra Modi’s vision of setting up an AIIMS centre in the state; whether they wanted a government that Shri Modi would ensure generated jobs; whether they wanted a safe and secure nation ensured by Shri Modi; whether they wanted a Modi who was electrifying the villages; whether they wanted Shri Modi’s BJP, or they were happy with the SP-BSP vicious cycle. “May the young of Uttar Pradesh unite in a manner that the criminals are not allowed even to venture out of their homes to capture booths,” he appealed. He motivated the state cadre by saying that they must ensure that the SP-BSP did not manage these elections through hooliganism.
