Press Release issued by the senior BJP leader, Shri Piyush Goyal

Shri Piyush Goyal, senior leader of Bharatiya Janata Party and leader of the opposition in the Delhi Legislative Assembly, Shri Vijender Gupta, addressed a press conference at the BJP's central headquarters today, and attacked the Arvind Kejriwal government of Delhi on the gross misuse of government treasury done during its tenure.

Addressing a press conference today, Shri Piyush Goyal, said that, the party which had occupied the power of Delhi in the name of political correctness and political change, the same Aam Aadmi Party government has misused the government system by looting the government treasury. It is utterly reprehensible and impolite. He said that one after the after news in the media which are continuously coming, it becomes clear that Delhi's Arvind Kejriwal government has violated the rules everywhere and have misused the government treasury. He said that first the news came of trying to pay bill of big advocates from the government exchequer to get rid of his personal charges, then the Shunglu Committee report appears which revealed that AAP government without following any due process, unconstitutionally appointed their relatives and close associates on the desired salary without having necessary qualifications and experience and now reports are coming on some TV channels that over Rs 11 lakh have been spent for treating some guests at Chief Minister's residence.

Shri Goyal said that on 11 February and 12 February, 2016, a Jalsa was organized at the residence of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal after the completion of one year of Aam Aadmi Party government in Delhi, whose catering was granted to a famous five star hotel in Delhi. He said that about 50 people were invited to the Jalsa on February 11, 2016, which cost about Rs. 12,800 per person plate, its total bill came to Rs. 6,23,605, similarly on 12 February 2016, 30 more people were invited, on this day, the price of a plate came to be more than Rs. 16000. He said that in these two days the food bill of 80 people crossed to more than Rs. 11 lakhs i.e. the average price per plate was calculated to approx Rs. 13,800. He said that on this issue the rebuttal forwarded by Aam Aadmi Party is, this bill is not being cleared by the Aam Aadmi Party government of Delhi and it has not been paid yet. He said, I do not understand why Arvind Kejriwal government is giving this statement, once the bill was generated, order for food was completed, the food also got digested, so the bill would have to be paid. He said that the point to note is that, this bill is the name of the Delhi Tourism and Transport Development Corporation that means the entire bill will be paid by Arvind Kejriwal Government of Delhi with the public money.

Senior BJP leader said that Aam Aadmi Party is the same party which used to say that we will not take salaries, will not take the house, but today they are alluring their relatives by paying huge salaries in unconstitutional ways, big government houses is being allocated, the public exchequer is being misused. He said that Delhi's Aam Aadmi Party government chief minister and his 6 cabinet ministers Tea and Snacks bill of just 18 months mounted to more than one crore rupees, as media reported.

Shri Goyal said that, the way Delhi's Arvind Kejriwal government is misusing government treasury, I understand that the people of Delhi want to know the answer. He said that the people want to ask the Arvind Kejriwal government and the Aam Aadmi Party that whether it was the political purity, did they choose the government for this? He said that the people of Delhi want to know whether this will be done by misusing the state treasury and putting it on the people of Delhi, will it be possible to increase the amenities of the public, in this way Delhi will be developed?

Shri Goyal said that the Bharatiya Janata Party strongly condemns the misuse of the government treasury by the Aam Aadmi Party government of Delhi, as well as the BJP also demands the resignation of the Arvind Kejriwal government because when the Shunglu Committee had questioned the Sheila Dikshit government, then the same Aam Aadmi Party had asked for her resignation. He said that after the formation of the BJP government under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the purity in politics, corruption free system, good governance and politics of performance have been started in the whole country. The manner Bharatiya Janata Party is engaged in public service in every state, the people of Delhi also want to join this system and the journey towards development.

The press conference was also addressed by the leader of the opposition in the Delhi Assembly, Shri Vijendra Gupta. He attacked the Aam Aadmi Party for the jalsa held on 11-12 February 2016 by Aam Aadmi Party. He said that in this case there has been severe irregularity by the Arvind Kejriwal government; no standard procedure has been followed in it. He said, after all what was there in menu that the price of one plate for the second day was more than three thousand rupees from the price of a plate of the first day, whereas the price of a plate at the first day's feast was about 12800 rupees is also not at all rational. He said that we will go to the people of Delhi in case of looting of the public money by the Delhi Government. He said that there should be a fair investigation in this matter and actions should be taken against the culprits. Later, copies of this bill were also made available to the journalists.
