Bharatiya Janata Party’s priority is to develop the North East Region which is hub of culture and geographical diversity, which will be fulfilled under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi

NEDA was established for the peace and prosperity of the North East region; and NEDA is fast accomplishing all the goals.

Neda is not just a political alliance, but also a regional alliance, Geo Cultural alliance. It s a platform that is boosting the cultural integration across the North East

After the second meeting of NEDA, for the first time Nagaland, Meghalaya and Tripura have got associated with it and I welcome the Chief Ministers of the state and their representatives

Development in North East has got effected due to the misrule of Congress. Its culture and geographical importance has never been underlined also the its cultural prosperity is nowhere in the world

******

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi's 'Mantra of Sabka Sath Sabka Vikas is proving successful in eliminating separatism from the region and promoting peace

Earlier the governments of the North-Easters states were known for corruption, but under the leadership of Neda alliance  and the Bharatiya Janata Party, today the entire region is out of briefcase politics and moving towards Development Politics

By understanding all the problems of the North East, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has gradually moved the region on the path of peace. Earlier this region was struggling due to issues of separatism and unrest, while today it is moving on the path of development with peace

Under the leadership of Modi, resources and financial aid is reaching to the last man of region. This, however, was not the situation earlier. The financial aid extended to the region used to be sacrificed for the Congress.

We have achieved great success in the issues of Bangladeshi infiltration, smuggling of weapons, terrorism from the border of Myanmar.

Having a land boundary agreement with Bangladesh has given a new direction to the development of the North East. Also, by establishing good relations with neighboring Bangladesh, Bhutan and Myanmar near the border of the Northeast, the Modi government has tried to have the maximum benefit under the Act East Policy.

In the 14th Finance Commission, the Modi government has allocated 258% more funds for the development of North East compared to the 13th Finance Commission of the UPA Government. In the 13th Finance Commission, North East received Rs 87,628 crore while the Modi government in the 14th Finance Commission has allocated a budget of Rs 3,13,375 crore for the North East.

In addition, the Modi Government has increased the amount for various projects and schemes by 73% for the NE region. Earlier, in the 13th Finance Commission gave only Rs 2,53,563 crore, while the Modi government has increased it to Rs 4,39,786 crore.

Ministers from the centre visits he region in every 15 days, also the Prime Minister monitors the development of the Northeast.

******

Neda will play an important role in the roadmap for development of the North East.

In the coming days, we want to establish NEDA's Youth and Women’s forum so that the second generation of the region should also be associated with the great cultural heritage of North-East and take advantage of their contribution in the development of the region.

We also want to organize a sports competition through NEDA every year so that India can move ahead in the global world competitions

BJP National President Shri Amit Shah on Sunday addressed the third meeting of North East Democratic Alliance (NEDA) at Shrimanta Shankardev Kalakshetra in Guwahati (Assam), and expressed happiness over the contribution of the alliance in making the region developed and prospers.

 

Shri Shah said NEDA has been able to fulfill all the goals of development in the North East region, a motive for which it was established. Congress considered the region only a means to gather support while may it be the Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee or Shri Narendra Modi, the region has witnessed development under both the statesman. He said that BJP was aware and recognises the fact that North East region has equal rights on the resources the country compared to rest of the states.

Shri Shah said that NEDA is not just a political alliance, but also a regional and Geo Cultural alliance. It is a platform that is boosting the cultural integration across the North East. The National President stated that the North East region was of utmost importance for the country as with just 4 % population of the country, its shares its huge part of their border with Myanmar, China, Bangladesh and Bhutan. Highlighting several achievements of the Narendra Modi Government for the North East region, Shri Shah said that the Centre has achieved great success in the issues of Bangladeshi infiltration, smuggling of weapons, terrorism from the border of Myanmar. “Having a land boundary agreement with Bangladesh has given a new direction to the development of the North East. Shri Shah also informed that BJP led centre has been contributing in the most efficient way for the development of the North East region.

The BJP National President also informed that Prime Minister Narendra was the first Prime Minister after former Prime Minister Shri Morarji Desai to taken part in the meeting of the North East Council, which made his inclination towards the region quite apparent. It is due to Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi that in every 15 days a minister from the centre visits the region. He said that to North East fund was created to promote skill among the youth of the region. The set up of APJ Abdul Kalam centre in IIM Shillong and Dr B. Baruah Cancer Institute are all part of development in the region.

Shri Shah also mentioned that the establishment of North East Cultural Centre in Delhi’s Dwaraka, new hostel for the North East students in JNU, and the Sports University in Manipur were all initiatives for development and upliftment of the region and its people.

Not just that, Sikkim has become the first total organic and open defecation free state in the country. By approving the rail link connecting Tripura and Bangladesh, BJP Government has taken a strong step towards development of the region. Centre has come up with Broadband policy for the North East region worth Rs 5,336 crore. He said that it is the Narendra Modi Government that has worked for the establishment of 16 hydro projects with a capacity of 5,576 MW.  Shri Shah also stated that NEDA will play a vital role in the development of the North East region and a new Youth and Women’s forum will be set up , which will ensure their contribution for the development. “We also want to organize a sports competition through NEDA every year so that India can move ahead in the global world competitions.”
