BJP National President Shri Amit Shah on Friday addressed a women’s convention at Karnataka’s Belagavi, and called for the people of Karnataka to vote for the BJP so that the state can be developed which the Congress government has failed to do in the last five years.

Highlighting the noble works done by the BJP for the empowerment of women, Shri Shah said that the BJP is committed towards the welfare of women in the society.

Earlier during the day Shri Shah visited the memorial of Rani Chhennemma in Belagavi. He also addressed the Shakti Kendra Pramukhs Samavesh of Belagavi Vibhag in Bagalkot and later held a road show from Gokak’s Sangolloi Rayanna circle to Shoonya Sampadana Mutt.

Shri Shah said that it was clearly visible to him after looking at the crowd that the next government in Karnataka will be of the BJP under the leadership of Yeddyruppa. Also, no one can stop the BJP from coming in power at the centre in the 2019 Lok Sabha polls under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi.

He said that while the BJP is completely dedicated for the welfare of villages, poor, farmers, dalit, tribals, youth and women, the Congress is busy spreading fear and confusion in the country.

Shri Shah said that the way Congress had ruled Karnataka in the last five years made it evident that the state has come down in terms of development. He said that Siddaramaiah government in the state has completely failed to ensure proper security for women and respect and safeguard their pride.

“Karnataka's Iconic figures such as Rani Chennemma, Rani Mallamma and Rani Abbakka have shown way to the entire country, while today the cases of atrocities against women in the state have substantially increased”.

The National BJP President also said that the security against women in the state is deteoriating and the Siddaramaiah government has failed to ensure safety of women.

Stating that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was also born to a poor mother, Shri Shah said that Modi ji has lived the life of poor and is aware of the problems faced by poor mothers which has made him take several welfare decisions over the issue.

Highlighting the Ujwala Yojana initiated by the Modi government, Shri Shah said that nearly 4.45 crore poor mothers have received free LPG gas connections under the scheme which was a strong move towards women empowerment.

Under the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, Prime Minister Narendra Modi government has set up nearly 7.5 crore toilets in the country and gave the women a right to live with dignity.

Attacking the Congress, Shri Shah said that during the last 50 years of rule the party could neither give gas connections nor set up of toilets for the women.

“Money to the pregnant women and programs like Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao are some of the strong steps taken by Modi government for the welfare of women. BJP is committed to the welfare of women in the society,” said Shri Shah.

Shri Shah also stated that for the welfare of poor, farmers, dalits, deprived, women and youth, the BJP has initiated more than 112 schemes, whose positive effects are clearly visible.

During the address, Shri Shah also said that Narendra Modi government  under the 14th finance commission gave Rs 2,19,506 crore to Karnataka while the amount given to the state by the 13thfinance commission during UPA government was only Rs 88,583 crore.

“Apart from this Rs 80,000 crore has been given to the state as part of various other initiatives but neither the money nor development reached the public of Karnataka due to the corruption of Siddaramaiah government,” said Shri Shah.

Earlier during the day, Shri Shah also addressed Shakti Kendra Pramukh Samavesha of Belagavi, where he said that the Siddaramaiah government in the last five years has compelled over 3,500 farmers to commit suicide due to its wrong policies.

Commiting that the BJP will solve the problems of farmers in the state once BJP forms government, Shri Shah said that currently the situation was such that the villages get neither electricity for 24 hours nor they get pure water.

“In every part of Karnataka, development has got stalled as the state government does not have any will to do development,” said Shri Shah.
