Press Statement issued by BJP National Spokesperson,
Capt Abhimanyu

Congress playing to gallery on Jat reservation
The matter has no locus standi sans due diligence from NCBC

December 20 New Delhi BJP’s national Spokesperson and Co-incharge of Uttar Pradesh – Captain Abhimanyu Sindhu - has called the Union Cabinet’s promise to give Jats reservation in Central jobs under OBC quota a hoax and camouflage.

He said that this is just a knee-jerk reaction of Congress party in view of the recent drubbing it faced in the assembly elections in the four states.

“Congress is just trying to mislead the community. Without a due consultation with the National Commission for Backward Classes (NCBC) and bypassing the required legal route, it is just making false promise to influence people for vote-bank politics,” Captain said.

Jats have been demanding and fighting for reservation for very long now. Two persons of Jat Samaj have fallen to police bullets and one person died due to starvation during the long struggle for the cause. Jat Samaj has been involved in long struggle for this cause and had organized “Rail Roko Abhiyan” also.

“NCBC in 2011 had refused to consider Jats for OBC status and the Congress government that time kept mum and enjoyed the unrest. Now making a request to Union Cabinet to expedite the matter doesn’t have any base and locus standi,” he added further.

And as the haze remains settled on the issue, Haryana Chief Minister and other Congress leaders are already congratulating each other. Even when the deal is not struck and everything is in muddle, this is an acct of rubbing salt into the wounds of people.

Captain reiterated that till the time NCBC doesn’t send its approval for this through a proper legal course, the talks are baseless.

“This shows Congress is just doing a lip service and has no intention to fight for the cause. No wonder this is the party which has incorporated false information in text books to pollute kids’ minds that Jats were thieves. How can a party which has been so deeply involved in Muzaffarnagar riots stand for a cause for Jat community. The deafening silence of Congress party in Haryana still echoes in the community’s ears and the community will not be carried away by such acts of playing to the gallery,” he commented, adding that Congress has never helped Jats getting reservation while BJP sympathized with the state of Jats and included them in OBC in Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and other states.

The tactic acknowledges the fear of Narendra Modi’s sky rocketing popularity and BJP’s spectacular show in the bygone elections in Congress and it is in this anxiety it is making such phoney statements with an intention to mislead the community.
