Mamita Meher kidnapping and Murder case

Mamita Meher (24) of Jharni village under Turekela block of Odisha’s Balangir district was working as a teacher at the Sunshine English Medium School at Mahaling in Kalahandi district and served as warden of the girls’ hostel of the school. She went missing on October 8. The owner  of the school Govind Sahu was arrested after FIR was filed by the girl's family. Gobind Sahu later fled from police custody and went under hiding. On 19th October a half burnt body was dug from the nearby Staduim in the town.

The owner Gobind Sahu has also been accused of running a sex racket in the school luring the girl students for marks.

Later in the evening of 19th, the accused was found and taken into custody.

It is being alleged that Home Minister of the BJD Government under Sri Naveen Patnaik, Capt. Dibyashankar Mishra has a very close association with the accused. Mr. Mishra spent quite a substantial amount of time in the School. The accused is being protected by the Home Minister.

Bharatiya Janata Party Mahila Morcha, Odisha Pradesh under the leadership of State President Smt. Smruti Pattnaik has decided to launch a State wide protest and demonstration demanding justice for Mamita Meher. As well as  the suspension and arrest of the Minister.

Smt. Patnaik held a press meet and stressed on the detiorating condition of the law and order in the State. Crime against women are on the rise and there is no effort in the part of the State Government to curb crime. She stated that Mahila Morcha would not stop raising their voice against the culprits of Mamita Meher until justice is delivered. Our demand is the suspension and arrest of the associated minister.

The following are the main demonstration programs by Mahila Morcha.

In Bolangir:

1. District SP office gherao.

    In presence of Rajya Sabha MP Smt. Sageeta Singhdeo, by District Mahila morcha under Smt. Ranjita Upadhyaya.

2. A delegate met the DIG Dr. Deepak Kumar   and SP Shri Kusalkar Nitin Dagdu  - Bolangir a memorandum for the arrest of Home minister was handed..

3. Mahila Morcha team met with the family members of the victim and assured them that the case would be pursued with full effort and the guilty would be punished.
