Press release by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National President Shri Jagat Prakash Nadda

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has won with a strong mandate in the local elections held for all the six municipal corporations of Ahmedabad, Surat, Vadodara, Jamnagar, Bhavnagar and Rajkot in Gujarat. On this historic win, I want to congratulate and thank all the voters and party cadres in all the six municipal corporations.

This victory is symbolic of the trust and affection of the people living in villages, poor, farmers, labourers, youth and the women on Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. The victory of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the election to these municipal corporations shows that the country has full faith in Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi and his policies.

In the election to the six municipal corporations, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won around 85% of the seats. The party won 489 seats out of the total 576 seats in these local elections. I take this opportunity to congratulate all the party cadres, Union Home Minister, Shri Amit Shah, Gujarat Chief Minister, Shri Vijay Rupani, Deputy CM Shri Nitin Patel, State BJP President Shri C R Patil and his entire team.

I want to assure the people of Gujarat that Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will never betray the trust that the people have shown in the party. The party will constantly work to fulfill the hopes and aspirations of the people of Gujarat. In all these municipal corporations, the local BJP government will constantly work for the development of their respective municipal jurisdictions.

Whether it is the assembly elections in Bihar or the recently concluded assembly by-elections in 11 states or the local body elections in Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Goa, Rajasthan, Ladakh, Hyderabad and now Gujarat, the farmers of India have given their support to the pro-farmer reforms initiated by the Narendra Modi government.

The Congress party had to cut a sorry figure in the local elections to all the six municipal corporations. This makes it clear that the people of this country have given their vote against the negative and divisive politics of the Congress party as well as the Opposition. In almost all the local body elections, the Congress party has been virtually wiped off.

In the Surat municipal corporation elections, Congress could not even open its account. While in all the six municipal corporation polls, including in Surat, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) increased its seats compared to the past elections.

The people of this country have reposed their faith in Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), despite the trying times unleashed by the novel coronavirus, the global economic slowdown and the negative politics of the Opposition on the farm laws. The victory secured by the party in all the elections conducted post the nationwide lockdown strengthens this fact.

These elections have once again proved that the villagers, poor, farmers, Dalits, downtrodden, youth and women believe that if there is anyone who can go ahead on the path of development from the local to the national level, then it is only the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) under the leadership of Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi.

The victory of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in these elections also blasters another fact that the party is getting overwhelming support from the public, while the Congress party’s base is shrinking.
