BJYM demands NCW action on crimes against women in Rajasthan

New Delhi, March 29, 2022: The Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) demanded the National Commission for Women take action against the rising harassment of women and crimes against Dalits in Rajasthan.

BJYM National Vice President Smt Neha Joshi, the Rajasthan State in-charge, and BJYM Rajasthan President Shri Himanshu Sharma met the NCW President Smt Rekha Sharma on Tuesday and submitted a memorandum on the issue. They demanded that the state government be directed to take strict steps to stop the atrocities against women. The NCW President assured action on the matter and has promised to take up the issue with the Rajasthan Government soon.

BJYM National President Shri Tejasvi Surya, commenting on the youth wing’s demand against the Rajasthan Government, said: “Rajasthan has recorded the most number of rape cases for the last two years as per data released by the National Crime Record Bureau. BJYM has consistently been raising issues related to women’s safety in Rajasthan. With the Rajasthan government failing to ensure the safety of women, especially those hailing from the underprivileged sections, the BJYM has demanded that the NCW take cognizance of the deteriorating situation in the state. I urge the NCW to direct the Rajasthan government to take measures and safeguard our sisters and daughters.”

BJYM Vice President Neha Joshi said: “The reporting of rape cases daily in Rajasthan is alarming. Recently, a Dalit woman, who was asking for bread in an ambulance, was gangraped in Jaipur. In the state capital, another woman was robbed of her ornaments, killed and her legs were cut off. A deaf and dumb girl was raped in Alwar, while a mentally-ill woman was brutalised in Banswara. A rape case has also been registered against the son of a Congress MLA at the Mandawar police station in Dausa district. It shows that ensuring the safety of women is the lowest priority for the Rajasthan government and the BJYM demands the NCW take note of this.”
