Every drop of water sprayed on us will haunt Mamata Banerjee: Surya

BJYM’s BikashBhavan March against corruption in teachers’ recruitment stopped with water canons

Kolkata, April 26, 2020: The Bharatiya Janata YuvaMorcha (BJYM) held a massive Protest against the Mamata Banerjee West Bengal Government here on Tuesday, against the corruption in recruitment of teachers.

In a Protest participated by BJYM National President Sri Tejasvi Surya and other top leaders, the BJYM were stopped from their March to BikashBhavan with heavy water canon spraying. More than 1,500 karyakartas suffered injuries from the police action on the peaceful March.

Under the Trinamool Congress government , West Bengal has witnessed systematic destruction of the education system with appointment to schools and colleges done based on the candidate’s support to the AITC and their alliance parties. While thousands of youths who have cleared the State Level Selection Test (SLST), those with B.Ed and D.El.Ed, NET, and SLET qualifications are side-lined, TMC supporters, even if they are unqualified or under-qualified, are being given the jobs to teach in schools and colleges.

For the past 400 days, teachers who had qualified for the SLST selection but were later sidelined to accommodate TMC cadres, have been sitting on protest demanding their right to employment. However, the WB state administration has turned a complete blind eye and deaf ears to their plight, even choosing to ignore the Hon’ble Calcutta High Court Order seeking appointment according to the original merit list.

In North Bengal, the situation is worse. There is no SSC or College Service Commission (CSC) recruitment held since the GTA Agreement was signed in 2011. To date, the Government, under pressure from the AITC, is recruiting whomever it wants to without even conducting interviews.

“Every drop of water sprayed on peaceful karyakartas of the BJYM will haunt CM Mamata for the rest of her tenure. This is BJYM’s promise to the people of Bengal,” Surya said after the Protest.

He further added-“West Bengal has been a land of thinkers and revolutionaries since ages. Opposing injustice is in the blood and spirit of each Bengali but this intolerant government, led by Mamata  Banerjee, is not even brave enough to face the people of Bengal and is using police as its private goons. Under MamataBanerje’s regime, Bengal police is acting like bounty hunters.”

BJYM National General Secretary and MP Shri Raju Bista commented- “The unprecedented use of force by TMC Police today, lathi charge, water cannon to silence more than 5,000 youths who had assembled from across West Bengal to demand their rights shows that TMC is scared of the youths taking a stand for justice. No matter the force they use, we will not be deterred, BJYM will not allow TMC to indulge in further politicization and corruption of the education system. We will work tirelessly till the youths of West Bengal get justice, and we will continue to work for saving the education system from TMC and to save West Bengal from this dictatorial, despotic regime.”

In this protest Dr. SukantaMajumdarji, BJP State President & MP Balurghat, BJYM National General Secretary & MP Darjeeling Sh. Raju Bistaji, BJYM WB State President DrIndranil Khan ji, Purulia MP Sh. JyotirmayMahtoji and Shakti Singh, BJYM National Executive Member &Prabhari BJYM West Bengal, and other BJP leaders were also president.
