Reduction in rates of Petrol, diesel and LPG Gas Cylinder by the Hon'ble P.M Shri Narendra Modi Led, Union Government for the benefit of Common Populace

New Delhi, 22nd May, 2022:The Central government on Saturday announced a reduction in central excise duty on Petrol by Rs.8 per litre and on Diesel by Rs.6 per litre. This bold step will effectively reduce the price of petrol by ₹ 9.5 per litre and diesel by ₹7 per litre. It will have a revenue implication of around Rs.1 lakh crore/year for the government. Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha extends its deepest gratitude to the Union Government for providing this relief to people amidst the surging price of Crude oil in the International Market.

The Pro-People Union Government led by Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi have been taking such steps for the benefit of 135 crore Indians. Earlier on 4th November 2021, the Central Govt. had reduced the prices of Diesel and Petrol by ₹10 & ₹5 respectively. Following suit, 19 States had reduced the Price of Petrol & Diesel by reducing State Levied VAT to provide extended relief. Unfortunately, 9 States- Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Maharashtra, Jharkhand, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Kerala did not lower VAT on petrol and diesel at that time.

Today, all the BJYM state units held press conferences in their respective states to thank the Modi led Central Government for the reduction in excise duty, thereby reducing the prices of petrol, diesel and LPG cylinders significantly and also requested all state governments, especially the non-BJP government states, to do their part to ease the burden on the common man by reducing the state levied VAT within 24 hours. BJYM also claimed that if the benefits do not percolate downto the common man within the stipulated time period, all units will hold protests across states.

Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha National President and Lok Sabha MP Shri Tejasvi Surya said, “Our heartfelt regards to Modi Ji-led Governmentfor its decision to lower down fuel prices by cutting down central’s tax share on petrol and diesel. Every penny saved by Modi Ji by reducing oil prices will become an income in the pocket of common man. Due to the prevailing international circumstances, the prices of petrol and diesel have increased and along with the centre, it is also the responsibility of the state governments to cooperate with the central government to provide relief to the common man by cutting taxes levied by the state.”

Shri Surya further said, “Further reduction in fuel prices & subsidy to gas cylinders will greatly benefit the middle class and poor. Thank PM Shri Modi ji and FM for this step. BJYM urges all opposition states to reduce VAT on prices immediately. If not done, BJYM will hit the streets.”
