Prime Minister launches a drive to fill 10 lacks vacancies in Defence sector

New Delhi, June 15, 2022: Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha thanks Prime Minister Modi for his decision to fill 10 lakhs vacancies after reviewing the status of human resources in government departments and ministries. The move will benefit a large number of educated youth apart from augmenting the state capacity to deliver effective governance.

It is part of the broader restructuring of the system, which has seen the redeployment of government resources from areas best left to the private sector like airlines to core areas of administration and governance. The government has initiated reforms in the recruitment process like ensuring transparency and the Common Eligibility Test for central government jobs through the newly constructed National Recruitment Agency. It has also undertaken the arduous task of modernising the administrative setup and removing redundant laws that gave government officials arbitrary powers.

An effective and strong state is critical for stimulating economic growth by complementing the market and dynamism of our private sector. Filling long-pending vacancies in a mission mode is a step in the right direction. The recruitment of more doctors, teachers, judges, police personnel etc., will not only improve critical services and improve quality of life but also add to economic growth by contributing to better human resources, law and order, contract enforcement etc.

BJYM demands that all opposition-ruled states fill all pending vacancies at the earliest in a transparent and corruption-free manner and give a clear timeline for the same.

BJYM also congratulates the central government for the ‘Agnipath military recruitment scheme’, under which 46,000 Agniveers shall be recruited this year. It will provide an opportunity to the youth by attracting young talent from the society who are more in tune with contemporary technological trends and plough back skilled, disciplined and motivated manpower into the society. The skills gained by each Agniveer during training and service will be recognised in a certificate. It will provide one more avenue for the youth to contribute to the armed forces and the country.

‘Agnipath Scheme’, will enable youngsters to join the armed forces for a tenure of 4 yrs. Post this service, 25% of the best professionals will be re-inducted as permanent. ‘Agniveers’ will form a distinct rank & will have a distinct insignia on their uniforms.”
