Statement issued by Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu, MP & Former President of the Bharatiya Janata Party
I was surprised to see the story in today’s Economic Times with headline “In a Show of Anger at Modi, LK calls BJP One-man Show”. The story is totally baseless and nothing could be farther from truth than this falsehood. It is unfair to attribute falsehood to the tallest political personality of India with the comments he never made. No such discussion took place nor was any such comment made in the meeting held on 27th February, 2014 wherein I was present and sat just two seats away from Shri L.K. Advani. It was a meeting of the Central Election Committee in which no other issue was discussed except selection of the candidates.
I always hold the Economic Times in a very good esteem as a newspaper of maintaining certain standards and ethics in journalism. I do not know from where the reporter(s) got this information and I wonder he/she went on making a story without verifying the facts. I am confident that no BJP leader worth the name would have told the reporter about such falsehood.
