Salient points of Hon’ble National President of BJP, Shri Jagat Prakash Nadda’s address at Smriti Sabha held in memory of Former Bihar Deputy CM Late Shri Sushil Kumar Modi
Hon’ble National President of Bharatiya Janata Party, Shri Jagat Prakash Nadda addressed the Smriti Sabha held in memory of former Bihar Deputy CM Late Shri Sushil Kumar Modi in Constitution Club, New Delhi on Monday. Shri Nadda paid a heartfelt tribute to former Bihar Deputy CM Shri Sushil Kumar Modi and highlighted his contribution to Nation and state politics. He added that Sushil Modi ji was known for his extensive knowledge and was often referred to as a walking 'reference book' on any subject.
Shri Nadda stated that we have witnessed the growth of Sushil Kumar Modi ji from contesting elections in the students' union to becoming the General Secretary of the students' union. During the JP movement, Sushil Kumar Modi ji fulfilled his responsibilities with full devotion and dedication. Shri Nadda emphasized that while several leaders who were arrested alongside Sushil Modi ji were in R Block hospitals, Sushil Modi ji spent the entire Emergency in jail, where he protested several times and raised his voice against the Emergency.
Respected National President of BJP, Shri Nadda recounted that when the Emergency was lifted in 1977, many young leaders were entering politics as MLAs or MPs, but Sushil Modi ji stood apart. However, Sushil Kumar Modi ji chose to dedicate himself to student life, demonstrating his commitment to the cause. He entered the political sphere only when given an important task; otherwise, he always chose to live a simpler life. Sushil Modi ji was very studious in nature and knew several things apart from politics. His extensive studies made him a walking 'reference book' on any subject. His passing is untimely and deeply felt, as this was not his time to go.
Shri Nadda stated that Sushil Kumar Modi ji made an important contribution to the implementation of GST as a member of the GST Council. Sushil Kumar Modi's interventions in politics played a significant role in the successful implementation of GST. His extensive work in student politics and his efforts to integrate these principles into daily life have been remarkable.
Hon’ble National President of BJP, Shri Nadda remarked that during election committee meetings, whenever he asked Sushil Kumar Modi ji about any constituency, Sushil Kumar Modi ji could provide detailed information about its demographics and other specifics. Sushil Modi ji had an extensive knowledge of Bihar and knew every Karyakarta by name. His contributions as a Rajya Sabha MP and Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar were significant. As Deputy CM, he played a crucial role in bringing development and financial stability to the state. Late Sushil Kumar Modi's untimely death has shaken the entire nation, as he still had much to contribute to the nation's politics.
