Bharatiya Janata Party National Spokesperson and Rajya Sabha MP Dr. Sudhanshu Trivedi & Delhi BJP State President Shri Virendra Sachdeva addressed a press conference at the party’s headquarters in New Delhi on Sunday. During the conference, Dr. Trivedi and Shri Virendra Sachdeva criticized Arvind Kejriwal’s announcement of resigning in two days, questioning why he needs 48 hours to step down. They condemned Kejriwal for corruption, failed governance, and extravagant spending, demanding an immediate resignation.

Dr. Trivedi remarked that the strange and bizarre character of the newest party in Indian politics, the self-proclaimed ‘Kattar Imaandar’, comes out from jail with a tarnished reputation, he is now receiving a warm welcome. The example of the new trend in politics that he has set is unparalleled in Indian politics. He has become the first Chief Minister in the country to remain in office while being imprisoned in a jail that falls under his own government. Tihar Jail falls under the Delhi government, and not only that, but two of his ministers also stayed there with him. Despite this, he did not consider it appropriate to relinquish his post, thereby establishing a new low in political morality. Confusion and lies are being propagated by the Aam Aadmi Party. Kejriwal claims that he was in jail as a non-BJP Chief Minister, but it should be clarified that before the BJP government came to power, Madhu Koda was jailed as Jharkhand Chief Minister in 2008, the Shibu Soren was jailed as Chief Minister was imprisoned as Jharkhand Chief Minister in 2006, Karunanidhi as Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, went to jail in 2000, Lalu Prasad Yadav as Bihar Chief Minister, was jailed in 1997, and Jayalalithaa Ji was imprisoned in 1996. But all of them at least had the morality to resign before their time in jail. All these Chief Ministers went to jail when there was no BJP government.

BJP National Spokesperson Dr. Trivedi noted that Kejriwal joined the list of Chief Ministers who went to jail on corruption charges, but he set a new record by staying in office while imprisoned, presenting an example of greed for power before the country. Not only this, but the way fireworks were set off upon his release from jail made him the first Chief Minister in the country to come out of the jail of his own government and break the rules established by that very government. The Delhi government decided to ban fireworks, yet the Delhi Chief Minister came out from a Delhi jail and blatantly disregarded the rules set by his own government. This is a new kind of politics. His actions, in this context, are both ironic and disheartening.

Dr. Trivedi stated that when they were accused in the liquor scam, those involved were pretending to take an oath at Mahatma Gandhi’s samadhi, despite the fact that 2nd October is a dry day across the entire country. What could be a bigger joke in Indian politics than the accused in the liquor scam first going to Mahatma Gandhi's Samadhi and then comparing himself to Bhagat Singh? Previously, when these individuals displayed Bhagat Singh's photo, his family objected. For those like Shaheed Bhagat Singh and others who sacrificed their lives for the country, wherever their souls are in heaven, it must be deeply painful. This is the same country in which Maharana Pratap lived on grass bread, Rani Laxmi Bai fought bravely on the battlefield, and Bhagat Singh sacrificed his life. To have their name used by a criminal accused of corruption is deeply disrespectful. It would not be wrong to say that the Chief Minister has tarnished Bhagat Singh's reputation.

BJP National Spokesperson Dr. Trivedi questioned why Arvind Kejriwal did not resign while in jail but is now talking about resignation and demanding 48 hours to step down. The people of the country and Delhi want to know the reason behind the 48-hour timeline. What does Arvind Kejriwal want to settle in 48 hours? He has become the first Chief Minister in the country to be restricted by the Supreme Court from going to his office, signing any files, or making statements on the issue for which he is accused. There is no precedent in Indian history for such restrictions on a Chief Minister. Despite this, why is Kejriwal asking for 48 hours to resign? If he cannot perform any government work, what personal matters is Arvind Kejriwal addressing? When Kejriwal discusses resignation, it can be interpreted as an admission of guilt or a statement acknowledging his crimes. By talking about resignation, he implicitly accepted that the allegations against him were serious enough that he could not remain in office. His mention of resignation thus signifies acceptance of the allegations.

Dr. Trivedi raised another point of doubt that, Arvind Kejriwal did not mention resignation while he was in jail, but why is he now discussing it after his release and demanding that elections be held soon? Is it that discussions about entering the electoral fray are taking place because the chaos within your party has made it increasingly difficult to manage things? There is a question in the minds of the people of Delhi about why this need for resignation has arisen. When he talks about resignation, it seems absurd given his character. He is still the Chief Minister with a substantial majority in the assembly. If he wants elections, he should call a cabinet meeting, dissolve the assembly, and recommend the dissolution of the assembly for new elections. Why the need for this demand? The party which has 62 out of 70 MLAs is calling for elections. This, in itself, demonstrates how strange his character has become.

Delhi State BJP President Shri Sachdeva remarked that Kejriwal’s character and image are surrounded by doubts. Kejriwal himself had stated that he would go before the public and let them decide his innocence. However, the people of Delhi had already given their verdict three months ago when they sent him back to jail.

Shri Sachdeva criticized Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, stating that despite his frequent talks about honesty, his corruption has eaten away Delhi like termites. Over 40-50 children lost their lives because the government, mired in corruption, failed to clean drainage systems in waterlogged areas. These children's deaths were a result of the government's corrupt negligence. Electricity bills have risen by more than 45%. Commercial electricity charges for 18-25 units are burdening common people, with some slum residents receiving bills as high as ₹8,000.

Delhi State BJP President Shri Sachdeva also slammed AAP's promise of free water, stating that Delhiites are struggling for every drop. There have even been murders over a bottle of water. Kejriwal, who once spoke of eliminating the tanker mafia, is now in collusion with them. Before the AAP government, Delhi had only 1,200 water tankers, but this number has now increased to over 3,000.

Shri Sachdeva criticized the AAP government, highlighting that despite boasting about medical facilities, essential equipment like ECG machines in many government-run hospitals are often non-functional. While the government promotes free treatment, patients are facing waiting lists as long as three years for care. In Mohalla Clinics over 18,000 treatments were recorded under a single phone number, exposing serious irregularities. Fake medicines are being sold in government hospitals in Delhi due to AAP's corruption. The AAP, which advocates for education reforms, has its own Education Minister embroiled in the liquor scam. Over 1 lakh students in 9th class have failed because the government wants to improve the board's performance records. More than 54,00 thousand students of 11th class have failed because the government wants to improve the 12th board's performance records.

Delhi State BJP President Shri Sachdeva observed that during a recent visit to a school, two different classes were being taught simultaneously in the same classroom by two teachers. This is the current state of education under the AAP government. Whether Arvind Kejriwal had forgotten about the snooping scandal, where opposition leaders, senior officials, and media houses were allegedly surveilled by the AAP team. The Delhi Jal Board is burdened with a ₹73,000 crore loan, with several officers behind bars. The AAP government did corruption in the STP (Sewage Treatment Plant) projects that should have been scrapped and added that the condition of the Yamuna River has only worsened under their administration. AAP has betrayed the trust of auto drivers who supported them while forming the government by being involved in a scam related to their permits. AAP, despite speaking about women's safety, engaged in corruption during the installation of panic buttons in buses. No department under the Delhi government has been left untouched by Arvind Kejriwal's corruption.

Shri Sachdeva criticized Kejriwal’s wish for resignation and stated that people will not forget the ₹8 lakh curtains and the ₹2 crore worth of beds in the ‘Sheeshmahal’ where Kejriwal lives, which were made with the hard-earned money of the public. Thousands of trees have been cut down overnight. The commodities worth more than ₹4 lakh were used in the washrooms of Kejriwal’s residence. Despite claiming to have no money in his account, Kejriwal’s ‘Sheeshmahal’ exhibits extravagant expenditures. The court has sentenced him to jail due to his involvement in corruption. The condition of roads has worsened, particularly the Nangloi to Mundka road, which used to take only half an hour but now takes more than three hours. There are potholes on every road in Delhi. Arvind Kejriwal is the only Chief Minister in Delhi under whose tenure a woman Rajya Sabha MP was assaulted and beaten up in his residence. If Kejriwal had even a shred of shame, he would resign immediately.

Delhi State BJP President Shri Sachdeva claimed that the two days Arvind Kejriwal requested before resigning are likely to be used to gather all the money. Kejriwal should dissolve his entire cabinet and announce elections in November so that the people of Delhi can pronounce their verdict. Rather than showcasing Bhagat Singh’s book in public, Kejriwal should reflect on his own concept of ‘Swaraj,’ in which he labeled liquor as a ‘curse.’ However, liquor shops have now opened in every colony and even near temples. Arvind Kejriwal, who compared his jail experience to that of Bhagat Singh, had food delivered from home, consumed eggs during Navratri, and created a disturbance in jail when he was not provided a cooler for two days. Kejriwal should answer why he withdrew the liquor policy if he was not involved in the scam after the investigation began. The entire party and its officials are implicated in the liquor policy scam, which is why the court has sent Arvind Kejriwal to jail. Criminal proceedings are ongoing, and the people of Delhi are aware that they have been looted by the AAP government.
