Bharatiya Janata Party MP Shri Manoj Tiwari and National Spokesperson Smt Shazia Ilmi addressed a joint press conference at the party’s headquarters in New Delhi on Sunday. During the press conference, they strongly criticized Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for his silence on the assault on Swati Maliwal and for staging a protest in support of Bibhav Kumar. They also raised sharp questions regarding efforts to save Bibhav Kumar.

 

BJP MP Shri Manoj Tiwari criticized the Aam Aadmi Party and remarked that during the Nirbhaya incident, Arvind Kejriwal stood in favor of women's safety. But he is now protesting on the streets to save those who assault women, from facing consequences.

 

Shri Manoj Tiwari emphasized that people of Delhi seek answers regarding the events at the Chief Minister's residence involving Swati Maliwal and wonder why Kejriwal remains silent. Regardless of Swati Maliwal's identity, what's crucial is that she is a woman from Delhi. Why did Arvind Kejriwal shelter the perpetrator of violence against a woman in his own home? And why did he choose to destroy the CCTV footage from that incident?

 

Shri Tiwari suggested that these questions reveal a consistent pattern in Arvind Kejriwal's behavior. As a Delhi MP and BJP karyakarta, it is deeply troubling to witness the appalling mindset of those who advocate for perpetrators of violence against women. Every woman in Delhi is notably shocked by this.

 

Shri Tiwari mentioned that although Arvind Kejriwal came with a 20-day special privilege, the Supreme Court did not grant him complete bail. Swati Maliwal’s report reveals that she has serious injuries on her head and arm. Arvind Kejriwal should provide answers to all the questions. If answers are not forthcoming, Kejriwal's 20-day appearance might pose a significant challenge for him. Perhaps Arvind Kejriwal's mental balance may have been disturbed, but he still needs to respond to this ethical balance.

 

Smt. Shazia Ilmi suggested that the Aam Aadmi Party should be renamed the 'Aam Apradhi Party' due to Bibhav Kumar's actions, likening him to the 'Shahjahan Sheikh of Delhi.' Swati Maliwal, who supported Arvind Kejriwal for 20 years, faced assault when she tried to meet him without an appointment. Despite medical evidence confirming the assault, the AAP's 'Dirty Tricks Department' released edited videos denying the incident. Kejriwal, known for his outspokenness, but remained silent on the Swati Maliwal case.

 

Smt. Ilmi stated that Arvind Kejriwal came out to the road to safeguard Bibhav Kumar, but even his supporters did not show up with him. This is because Arvind Kejriwal, who was once involved in the Anna Movement and the justice movement of the Nirbhaya case, is now protesting to safeguard Bibhav Kumar, who allegedly assaulted a woman MP. On May 13, Sanjay Singh accepted that the incident happened and the government would take action against it. However, no action has taken place. Smt Ilmi claimed that Bibhav Kumar must hold some secret information about Kejriwal, which is why Kejriwal is trying hard to save him and demeaning their old colleague Swati Maliwal. The Aam Aadmi Party's efforts to shield Bibhav Kumar, dubbed the 'Shahjahan Sheikh of Delhi,' are deeply regrettable, and Kejriwal's actions in this regard speak volumes about his character.

 

BJP spokesperson Shazia Ilmi questioned why not only was the CCTV footage manipulated to portray Swati Maliwal as the culprit, but also why an important portion of the video footage showing Swati Maliwal inside the CM’s house was missing. She pointed out that Bibhav Kumar reformatted his phone on May 14th, implying that all call information was erased.
