Senior BJP Leader, Lok Sabha MP and  former Union Minister Shri Ravi Shankar Prasad stated that why does the Congress party have such a fascination for land deals during its governments? Whether it's the Hooda government in Haryana or now the MUDA deal in Siddaramaiah's term, land deals seem to flourish under Congress rule.

 

Shri Prasad raisesed a serious question to Congress, what is the Congress party's fascination with land when in power? Even the family of Congress' National President, Mallikarjun Kharge, is now in the spotlight with the Siddharth Vihar Society. Whether it’s Congress' Chief Ministers or its national president, both their families are making headlines, and let’s not forget the much-talked-about ‘Damad’ in the past. In Rajasthan and Haryana, whether it was Ashok Gehlot’s government or Hooda’s, how much cooperation and blessings the ‘Damad’ received from both are now well-known facts.

 

BJP MP Shri Prasad stated that today, the BJP raises a serious question: Why do Congress governments and their leaders have such a strong fascination with land deals? Have some of their leaders turned into property dealers? Siddaramaiah's wife was gifted a piece of land by her brother in Mysore. Later, due to a certain rule, they acquired 2 to 3 times more land within the city of Mysore. A complaint was then filed against this, and the Hon'ble Governor sanctioned action under the Prevention of Corruption Act. Siddaramaiah approached the High Court and obtained a stay on the matter. However, the stay was vacated, and the court observed that "some hidden hand is very evident" in the case.

 

Senior BJP leader Shri Prasad highlighted that following that, the Karnataka Lokayukta filed an FIR. Seeing the seriousness of the matter, the ED also initiated a case. While the MUDA scam case was still ongoing, another case related to Siddharth Vihar Society has come to light. It is said that this is connected to the family of Mallikarjun Kharge. First, they were allocated land, and then Siddaramaiah's government gave them 5 acres of land within Bangalore's high-tech defence area for an R&D facility. It's quite surprising in itself how land was allotted in such a high-tech defence zone. What's even more intriguing is that just a few days after the rules for establishing an R&D facility were formulated, they managed to secure 5 acres of land. Several suspicious circumstances have emerged regarding the land allotted to Mallikarjun Kharge's family. The matter has also gone to the Lokayukta and is pending in court, where the judiciary will do its work. However, it is important to note that Mallikarjun Kharge is the National President of the Congress Party and the Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha.

 

Shri Prasad stated that if so many suspicious circumstances surround this entire fast-track allotment, which is the second allotment, then answers must be provided. AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi frequently ask from Hon'ble Prime Minister many questions, they have the right to ask questions. Today, there is an expectation that a response will be given from the Congress party and it should be given honestly, with evidence, and transparently. The BJP expects transparent and honest replies to these queries related to highly suspicious circumstances. How land is acquired in the defence tech area, especially when it involves 5 acres near Bangalore, raises questions. The BJP wants answers to these issues and strongly criticizes the situation.

 

Senior BJP leader Shri Prasad remarked that when Congress came to power, it facilitated land deals, and this issue isn't confined to just one state, it has also occurred in Haryana and Rajasthan. The BJP is not against land being authentically allocated to a legitimate trust. However, the involvement of political families in a ‘Land Grab Movement’ disguised as trust activities is highly inappropriate and the BJP strongly condemns it. This is a grave issue, so the BJP deemed it necessary to bring it up today.

 

Shri Prasad pointed out that Hooda and MUDA work together. The BJP has already brought to light how land was allocated in Haryana and the extensive land deals in Bikaner, Rajasthan. This matter is being Court. Shri Prasad pointed out that the investigation into the MUDA issue is being conducted fairly, as it should be, under court supervision. The governor's sanction was challenged in court, a stay was initially granted but later revoked. The anti-corruption wing of the Mysore Lokayukta filed an FIR and this action was taken by the court's directives, followed by additional measures from the ED.

 

Senior BJP leader Shri Prasad questioned why there is such a fascination with land. Why Mallikarjun Kharge, as the party's national president, doesn't advocate for establishing benchmarks and refrain from acquiring excess land when Congress is in power. Land deals and Congress deals are synonymous, with such transactions occurring frequently under the Congress government. The BJP condemns this practice and hopes that action will be taken through government and judicial processes.
