Bharatiya Janata Party National Spokesperson Shri Shehzad Poonawalla addressed a press conference at the party’s headquarters in New Delhi on Friday. During the press conference on International Women's Day, Shri Shehzad Poonawalla expressed gratitude to the Honorable Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, for announcing the reduction of the price of LPG cylinders by ₹100. He also commended the extension of the Ujjwala scheme until March 31, 2025.These steps are significant strides towards promoting women empowerment and the upliftment of the poor. Shri Poonawalla described the nomination of Smt. Sudha Murthy to the Rajya Sabha as a powerful message aimed at bringing women into the mainstream. BJP National spokesperson Shri Poonawalla criticized the Mamata government in West Bengal for defending Shahjahan Sheikh, who was involved in the atrocities of women in Sandeshkhali, and criticized the INDI alliance for maintaining silence on this issue. He accused Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal of making excuses in appearing before ED and playing the victim card.

BJP National Spokesperson Shri Shehzad Poonawalla expressed his gratitude to Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and the BJP government for empowering women through the provision of LPG cylinders at a reduced rate of ₹100. He emphasized that this initiative is a significant step towards women empowerment and overall societal welfare. Shri Poonawalla highlighted the positive impact of the Ujjwala scheme in improving the future prospects of women, mothers, and sisters. Shri Poonawalla expressed hope that the government will continue to take measures to provide relief to the people, a task successfully undertaken by PM Shri Narendra Modi and his administration.

Shri Shehzad Poonawalla highlighted that even during the global economic crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, Honorable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi continued the subsidy under the Ujjwala scheme. Additionally, the central government of the Bharatiya Janata Party has consistently reduced the central excise duty on petrol and diesel, and BJP-led state governments are also following suit by reducing VAT to ensure that the people of BJP-governed states receive petrol and diesel at lower prices. Shri Poonawalla pointed out that, President Smt Draupadi Murmu nominated Smt Sudha Murthy for the Rajya Sabha, which is an excellent example of women empowerment. On International Women's Day, the nomination of Smt Sudha Murthy for the Rajya Sabha serves as a great inspiration for millions of women, sending a positive message about bringing women into the mainstream.

Shri Poonawalla highlighted that since Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi assumed office in 2014, every scheme has been geared towards women's development. He emphasized the significance of the "Beti Bachao Scheme," initiated at the birth of a girl child, which has positively impacted the sex ratio, now standing at 1020 females per 1000 males, a marked improvement from earlier. Furthermore, the Modi-led government has introduced the "Poshan Yojana" to enhance the nutritional intake of girls as they grow.

BJP National Spokesperson Shri Shehzad Poonawalla stated that previously, girls faced challenges attending school or staying in school due to the lack of toilet facilities. However, today, toilets for girls have been constructed in every school, because of the extensive campaign of 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyan' initiated by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi since 2014. Over 1 million toilets have been built in schools as part of this initiative, leading to a significant reduction in the dropout rate among girls, now muslim girls also go to schools. The dropout rate, which was previously 70 percent, has now decreased to 30 percent. The Modi-led government remains committed to addressing the concerns of girl students attending school.

Shri Shehzad Poonawalla stated that the government has launched programs to support girls who want to pursue higher education. Various BJP state governments have introduced schemes like Ladli Behna, Ladli Laxmi Yojana, providing scooters to scholar girl students to facilitate their future education. The 'Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana', spearheaded by the Prime Minister, has resulted in the creation of 3.2 crore accounts, where the girls are also benefited from an 8.2 percent interest rate, along with several other schemes that offer fixed deposits to girls, thereby ensuring their welfare.

BJP National Spokesperson highlighted that under the leadership of Shri Narendra Modi , girls aspiring to serve the country now have equal opportunities for permanent commission in the armed forces at the border. This initiative symbolizes the strength of our women, comparable to Maa Durga, in safeguarding the nation. As a result, women's empowerment was prominently displayed, with leadership roles showcased during the Republic Day parade.

Shri Poonawalla highlighted the initiative to support women entrepreneurs, mentioning the opening of 50,000 bank accounts, predominantly for women, aiming to encourage them to start their own businesses. Additionally, he mentioned the distribution of small loans ranging from 10,000 to 20,000 rupees under the Mudra Loan scheme, with a total of 44 crore loans sanctioned, with a significant portion benefiting women entrepreneurs. Shri Poonawalla emphasized the support provided to women, especially in the context of marriage. He mentioned the implementation of schemes like Kanya Daan Yojna and Kanya Vivaah Yojna in various states, with UP and Madhya Pradesh serving as examples where women have availed the benefits of these initiatives.

Shri Poonawalla highlighted the reduction in stamp duties in various states, leading to a significant impact on property registrations, which are predominantly in the names of women. He also mentioned that nearly 70% of houses provided under the PM Awas Yojna have ownership or co-ownership by women. This reflects the government's commitment to empowering women at every stage of life, from childhood to adulthood. Shri Poonawalla emphasized the government's commitment to increasing women's participation in leadership roles. He mentioned the passage of the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam, the first bill dedicated to honoring women's strength, in the newly constructed Parliament. This reflects Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi's vision of enhancing women's participation in various sectors, from managing families to contributing to the nation's progress. Shri Poonawalla highlighted the transformation in the security scenario under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. He noted the eradication of terrorism and the end of harassment by individuals like Shahjahan Shiekh, emphasizing the government's commitment to creating a safe environment. States like Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh serve as prime examples of a zero-tolerance policy against crimes affecting women. This approach has contributed to the trust and support the Bharatiya Janata Party receives from women during elections, as they perceive the party as a safeguard ensuring law and order.

Shri Poonawalla highlighted the significant step taken by the government in abolishing decades-old practices like Triple Talaq. He emphasized that this move brought respect and dignity to Muslim women, who had previously faced atrocities and were often exploited for vote bank politics. The abolition of Triple Talaq freed them from such constraints, representing a crucial step toward empowering and protecting the rights of Muslim women.

Shri Poonawalla highlighted the BJP's initiatives towards implementing the Uniform Civil Code in states under its rule. He mentioned Uttarakhand as the first state after independence to implement the UCC, prioritizing women's empowerment. Shri Poonawalla expressed confidence that other states, where there is public demand for the UCC, will also consider its implementation in the future. He praised Assam Chief Minister Shri Himanta Biswa Sarma for taking commendable steps to prevent child marriage. Shri Poonawalla stated that every state and central government scheme focuses on women's empowerment as a central objective.

Shri Poonawalla conveyed that on one hand, there's a message being spread in the country regarding ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’  and on the other hand, a distressing message is spread in Sandeshkhali. While Shri Narendra Modi runs the ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ campaign, Mamata Banerjee runs the ‘Shahjahan Bachao’ campaign. What compulsion does Mamata Banerjee have that today, instead of TMC meaning Trinamool Congress, it has become ‘Talibani Mujhe Chahiye’? Just as a Mughal mentality that persecutes Hindu women is being oppressed, Mamata Banerjee provides them with secular protection. If a rapist appeals to the court to escape punishment, he can be understood, but in West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee's government was appealing in favor of the accused in the Supreme Court. And when no stay was granted, almost committing contempt of court, her government refused to accept Shahjahan's custody and case papers.

Shri Shehzad Poonawalla questioned as to what secret does Shahjahan Sheikh possess that Mamata Banerjee has only suspended him from the party instead of expelling him. Mamata Banerjee has made every effort to protect Shahjahan's conduct, whether it's by preventing the fact-finding team from reaching Sandeshkhali or by sometimes creating obstacles for the Women's Commission team or even getting journalists arrested.

Shri Poonawalla highlighted that several leaders of the INDI alliance have gone to various states with campaigns like 'Dalit lives matter' and women empowerment, but even after so many days, leaders like Priyanka Gandhi Vadra are unable to utter a word for the women of Sandeshkhali. Even in the recent tragic incidents in Dumka and Palamu in Jharkhand, Priyanka Vadra remained silent. Shri Shehzad Poonawalla criticized AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge for his response to the Sandeshkhali incident, citing his statement "Yeh jo Sandeshkhali ki ghatnayein hai, yeh ghatanyein hote rehti hai." Shri Poonawalla then remarked that on the International Women's Day, as the nation emphasizes 'Beti Badhao, Beti Bachao, beti Padhao ', Priyanka and Mamata must answer when they will put an end to 'Shahjahan Badhao, Shahjahan Bachao'.

National Spokesperson Shri Shehjad Poonawalla criticized the INC government, questioning why they didn't prioritize women's issues over the past 70 years as PM Shri Narendra Modi is doing now. He accused the INC of neglecting women's empowerment and bowing to fanatics. Referring to incidents like Shah Bano's case, todays Shayra Bano Case, UUC matter and Shanti Dhariwal's remarks justifying rape cases in Rajasthan who stated that ‘women will be raped as Rajsthan is a male dominant state. After making such derogatory remarks also Former INC Leader Sonia Gandhi called Shanti Dhariwal and rewarded him with the ticket. Shri Poonawalla highlighted the cosmetic promises made by the INC like ‘Ladki hun lad sakti hun’ without becoming true advocates for women. He also mentioned the AAP's campaign slogan "Sansad Mein bhi Kejriwal, tab dilli hogi khushhaal" and the backlash it received from the people of Delhi, who stated "dilli ko kar ke behaal, banakar Manish Sisodia ko malamaal, kidhar bhagte ho Kejriwal." Shri Poonawalla suggested that AAP should heed the voice of Delhi's citizens, echoing sentiments of dissatisfaction since 2014.

BJP National Spokesperson Shri Shehzad Poonawalla stated that the response given by the people of Delhi to Arvind Kejriwal in the 2014 and 2019 Lok Sabha elections was notable. It appears that the Aam Aadmi Party possibly received fewer votes than NOTA. In the previous elections, the Aam Aadmi Party contested on 204 seats, and their security deposits were forfeited on all 204 seats. The Aam Aadmi Party stands out as the only party in the country that secures its security deposits on 95 to 99% of its contested seats in elections and contributes to the Election Commission's account in some form.

Shri Poonawalla emphasized that the public, and perhaps the courts as well, are questioning Arvind Kejriwal why he hasn't responded regarding the allegations of enriching liquor scammers. The court has asserted that Arvind Kejriwal's excuses and victimhood card won't be accepted, emphasizing that he must be physically present before the court. Shri Poonawalla pointed out that Arvind Kejriwal, who entered politics under the guidance of Anna Hazare and advocated for the principle of resignation first and then investigation, is now himself running away. The court is not providing any relief to AAP leaders like Sanjay Singh, Manish Sisodia, and Vijay Nair, who have been in jail for more than a year. Shri Poonawalla highlighted that the court is affirming the AAP's involvement in the liquor scam and the money trail of 338 crores. Despite this, Arvind Kejriwal is avoiding eight summons to appear. Shri Poonawalla emphasized that Kejriwal needs to clarify when he will be present for the investigation and questioned why Kejriwal shies away from the investigation if he is innocent.

Shri Shehzad Poonawalla Congress has raised questions about the Kejriwal government's actions, including providing compensation to liquor scamsters, allowing a blacklisted manufacturing company to operate, privatizing the wholesale liquor market, and increasing profits by 2.5%. Arvind Kejriwal playing the victim card and not addressing these concerns. Shri Poonawala criticized Arvind Kejriwal, questioning whether he consulted the people of Delhi before opening two liquor vends in every locality and engaging in corruption in various sectors. Shri Poonawala highlighted Kejriwal's previous promises, including swearing on his children not to join hands with Congress and to send Lalu Yadav to jail, but today he is in alliance with them. Shri Shehzad Poonawala took a dig at Arvind Kejriwal, urging him to disclose his political U-turns to the people of Delhi in recent years.

BJP National spokesperson stated that the people of Delhi have decided, "Abkibaar No Natwarlal." This message from the residents of Delhi is not just for the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha elections but for all future elections. Those who have engaged in corruption and falsehood, similar to Natwarlal, will be taught a lesson by the people of Delhi.
