Bharatiya Janata Party National Spokesperson Shri ShehzadPoonawalla addressed a press conference at the party’s headquarters in New Delhi on Saturday. During the conference, Shri Poonawalla accused AamAadmi Party leader Atishi of character assassination against RajyaSabha MP and victim Swati Maliwal. He also strongly criticized Delhi Chief Minister and AAP Convener ArvindKejriwal and INDI Alliance leaders for their silence on the matter.

 

Shri ShehzadPoonawalla stated that from “Bhrashtachar” to “Durachar” to “Dushprachaar”, it has become the standard operating procedure of AAP.  It has become their “Vichar” and “Shishtachar” to indulge in this kind of modus operandi. Everyone knows about Draupadi'sCheerharan, but today not only Draupadi’sCheerharan took place, but her character was also assaulted. In this modern-day Cheerharan, there is also a Dushasan who has been arrested today. Additionally, there are Duryodhan and Dhritarashtra, who have been trying to cover up this incident for many days by labeling it as an internal matter. At 9 am on May 13th, an incident of misconduct with RajyaSabha MP Swati Maliwal took place at Delhi CM’s residence. Initially, there was a silence of 72 hours until May 18th and then Sanjay Singh acknowledged the matter to some extent and subsequently, efforts were made to defend the incident.

 

Shri Poonawalla stated that throughout this series of events, AAP initially remained silent, partially acknowledged the incident and proceeded to defend the accused and now, a disgusting offense is being committed. In this contemporary scenario, ArvindKejriwal, likened to the modern-day Duryodhan and Bibhav Kumar, akin to the Dushasan responsible for thischeerharan, were spotted together at Lucknow Airport. It has been clearly stated in the initial reports that misconduct and assault have occurred with the woman MP and today's emerging medical report also confirms this. Swati Maliwal has lodged her statement under Section 164, underscoring the gravity of the situation. Now, after attempting to defend, the AamAadmi Party is committing a disgusting offense. Delhi Chief Minister ArvindKejriwal has maintained silence on the matter so far and when questioned about Swati Maliwal, he diverted the microphone towards AkhileshYadav.

 

Shri ShehzadPoonawalla stated that so far, ArvindKejriwal has been unable to explain why Bibhav Kumar was with him at Lucknow Airport and at his residence. On May 14th, AAP RajyaSabha MP Sanjay Singh released a statement, "A highly regrettable incident has happened. Swati Maliwal had gone to Kejriwal's house and was waiting in his drawing room, but Bibhav Kumar subjected her to assault and misconduct. Chief Minister Kejriwal has taken note of the matter and assured action upon it. This is a very shameful incident." Despite Sanjay Singh accepting the incident, the next day, embarrassing images surfaced showing Bibhav Kumar with ArvindKejriwal and party workers misbehaving with journalists.

 

BJP National Spokesperson Shri Poonawalla pointed out that during a press conference today, Atishi Marlena defended her ministerial position by highlighting, "Another video clip has emerged showing Swati Maliwal without any signs of injury or torn clothes. Instead of crying, she is seen expressing her anger loudly." AamAadmi Party's stance is that if there is no visible physical evidence of assault, such as tears or torn clothes, does it mean that nothing happened to the woman? Discussing a victim in this manner constitutes victim blaming and victim shaming. Such arguments are being presented by the AamAadmi Party in the press conference.

 

Shri Poonawalla presented a video of MP Sanjay Singh's press conference, raising questions to the AamAadmi Party: Why did they have to make a U-turn with Atishi’s press conference, within 72 hours? Was Sanjay Singh being untruthful? Atishi clarifies that Sanjay Singh was aware of only one perspective, implying that he conducted the press conference based on a biased understanding. Another query arises, Why is ArvindKejriwal silent on this entire matter? The third question is: What narrative does the AamAadmi Party aim to construct by releasing 20-second snippets from a one-hour sequence of events? Despite having a history of crafting narratives using short clips, the AamAadmi Party should release the entire CCTV footage.Swati Maliwal herself has raised concerns about potential tampering with CCTV footage. She has stated that political hitmen are releasing short videos to protect themselves, intending to shift blame onto the victim.

 

BJP National Spokesperson, while citing a tweet from Vandana Singh, an AAP worker and member of the Delhi Women's Commission, stated that Vandana Singh herself had raised questions to the AamAadmi Party. She questioned whether the BJP had prior knowledge 20 years ago, leading to the appointment of Swati Maliwal to the Change NGO. Despite releasing edited videos, Vandana Singh has criticized the AamAadmi Party and expressed concerns about the potential for violence.

 

Shri Poonawalla brought attention to Vandana Singh's tweet, where she questions whether the BJP was aware 20 years ago, hence they orchestrated Swati Maliwal's placement in the ParivartanNGO. In another tweet, she warns that merely editing video clips and branding someone as a BJP agent won't resolve the issue, it might even lead to someone being killed. Shri Poonawalla raised concerns about whether AAP is contemplating such actions or if they are capable of resorting to violence now. This similar concern has been voiced by Swati Maliwal's ex-husband, Navin Jai Hind. Presently, the AamAadmi Party is supporting Bibhav Kumar, who has a criminal record.ArvindKejriwal's silence indicates that Bibhav Kumar is merely a pawn, while Kejriwal himself is the mastermind behind this incident.

 

BJP National spokesperson emphasized that today the question arises: who is AAP aligning with? On one hand, they are aligning with an individual they have acknowledged as someone behaves improperly. On the other hand, figures like Vandan Singh and NitinTyagi, AAP leaders who advocated for Swati Maliwal, had their entire committee disrupted in Laxmi Nagar. Why are the leaders of the INDI Alliance maintaining silence about this disgraceful victim shaming and blaming done by Atishi? Why is PriyankaVadra, who champions the slogan “LadkiHoon, Ladd SaktiHoon”, silent on this issue? Why is PriyankaChaturvedi of Shiv Sena (UBT), who left Congress due to misconduct against herself, silent on this matter? Why hasn't Rahul Gandhi, who is known to stand up for women's dignity anywhere, spoken about this issue yet? Does Rahul Gandhi accept victim shaming?

 

Shri Poonawalla pointed out that all the involved parties, the victim, the accused, the location and the witnesses—are linked to the AamAadmi Party, yet someone else's name is being implicated. This has become a recurring pattern for the AamAadmi Party. While avoiding direct association with the BJP, they blame them. If Swati Maliwal was dishonest, disloyal and corrupt, why did the AamAadmi Party nominate her for the RajyaSabha?

 

BJP National spokesperson Shri Poonawalla, while presenting Atishi Marlena's old press conference and today's press conference videos stated that AamAadmi Party keeps taking U-turns, and has taken a U-turn today as well. Congress leader AdhirRanjan Chowdhury has stated that strict action should be taken in this matter. AamAadmi Party should clarify whether AdhirRanjan Chowdhury is also someone's agent. AdhirRanjan Chowdhury contradicted Priyanka Gandhi's assertion, stating that this incident is not an internal matter. The assault of a RajyaSabha MP by the Chief Minister's aide at the CM's residence is not an internal issue. Now, Congress needs to clarify whether this is an internal matter or if what AdhirRanjan Chowdhury has stated is correct. After AdhirRanjan's statement, it's crucial for ArvindKejriwal to speak up, or will AdhirRanjan Chowdhury also be accused of being a BJP agent?
