Press Release

Salient points of speech of press conference of Hon'ble Union Home Minister & Senior BJP leader Shri Amit Shah in Kolkata, West Bengal

  • I bow to Sri Sri Harichand Thakur ji, founder of the Matua community on his Janmatithi. He played a mammoth role in empowering, educating and uplifting the marginalised section of our society. His ideals & teachings will continue to guide us to fulfill our vision of Sonar Bangla. I congratulate the people of West Bengal for the warm greetings of the Bengali New Year in advance.

  • In the first three phases of the assembly elections, the people of West Bengal have come out strongly in support of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Our calculations show that the party will win between 63 to 68 seats in the voting held for the first three phases. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will form government in West Bengal by winning more than 200 seats.

  • I want to urge the people of West Bengal that the support they showed for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the first three phases, they should continue supporting the party for the next five phases, which under the leadership of Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi wants to create a safe, developed Sonar Bangla.

  • The frustration of the impending downfall of Trinamool Congress in the assembly elections is clearly visible in the behaviour, talk and speeches of its leaders. Trinamool Congress is losing patience.

  • I have never seen anyone in my political career making the kind of comments that Mamata Didi made against our security forces. If the chief minister of a state and the president of a political party says that gherao the CAPF jawans is highly disrespectful.

  • Mamata Didi is repeatedly levelling allegations that the CAPF is working on the whims of the Home Ministry. Didi, don’t you know that during elections, the CAPF is under the command of the Election Commission of India.

  • The issue of illegal immigration can only be solved by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the Congress or the Communists or the Trinamool party cannot solve it. This is the same Mamata Didi who created ruckus in Parliament three times to get the names of illegal immigrants struck off from the voter list and now the same Mamata Didi is acting as a saviour of the illegal immigrants.

  • This is the same Mamata Didi who used to say that send CAPF to West Bengal to check raging, and now the same Mamata Did says that CAPF is doing raging in the West Bengal assembly elections. How people change their statements for their petty gains can be seen by the behaviour of Mamata Banerjee.

  • Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders and party cadres are being repeatedly attacked in West Bengal. None of the Trinamool Congress leaders have spoken against this violence. By remaining silent, Mamata Didi and her party leaders are giving their silent support to such acts of political violence in the state.

  • The way in which Mamata Didi has been urging the minorities to stay united and vote for Trinamool Congress, this shows that maybe Mamata Didi’s minority voters are also deserting her. Instead of giving statements like these, Didi should ponder on the reasons behind her defeat in the assembly elections.

  • Today West Bengal is at the 22nd spot in terms of per capita income and in terms of GDP growth, it is at the 31st position, while in terms of revenue generation, the state is on the 10th spot. There was a time when West Bengal accounted for 33% of India’s GDP, which today has shrunk to a mere 3.3%.

  • The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has come out with its Sankalp Patra (Manifesto), which along with the vision of Sonar Bangla aims for an all round and inclusive development of the state. We have resolved to prove a job to one member of each family in the state.

  • The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government will create a Sonar Bangla economic resurgence task force, which will include noted economists in the country and who will create the development road map of the state. We will create ‘Invest Bangla’ and serious efforts will be made to bring West Bengal to the third spot nationally in terms of ease of doing business.

  • After the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) forms the government in West Bengal, farmers in the state will be given Rs 18,000 of past and new instalments into their bank accounts under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi. Every farmer in West Bengal will get a financial assistance of Rs 10,000 every year.

  • After the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) forms the government in West Bengal, women will get 33 percent reservation in government jobs. Girls in the state will be given education free of cost from the KG to PG. Our mothers and sisters of West Bengal will be able to travel free of cost in public transport.

  • We have decided to create the North Bengal development board to create avenues for the development of North Bengal. We will create a Narayani Sena battalion under the CAPF. We will set up an AIIMS and a central university in North Bengal.

  • The sub-cases within Gorkhas will be covered under the Scheduled Tribes category. A grand Gorkha Freedom Fighters memorial will be created in Darjeeling. Residents of forest village, tea gardens and cinchona plantations will be given land rights.

  • There was a time when Singapore would follow the development model of Kolkata, but today that same Kolkata is in a very bad shape. Under our vision of Sonar Bangla, we will develop Kolkata not just as the ‘City of Joy’, but also as the ‘City of Future’.

  • We will make serious efforts to include Bengali language as one of the official languages in the United Nations.
