Hon’ble Union Minister of State (Independent) & Senior BJP Leader Shri Arjun Ram Meghwal addressed a press conference at the party’s headquarters in New Delhi, on Friday. During the conference, Shri Meghwal strongly criticized the Karnataka Congress government for mishandling the funds allocated for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes. He pointed out the irony of Rahul Gandhi carrying a copy of the Constitution while his party's state government flouts its provisions.

 

Shri Meghwal pointed out that those who came to power in Karnataka, pledging allegiance to the Constitution and even the LoP in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, who carries the copy of the Constitution with him during parliamentary elections. The Constitution provides that the allocated funds for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes must be spent solely for their welfare. There should be no diversion, whether in shareable schemes or other programs. This money should exclusively serve their needs. Unfortunately, in Karnataka, there has been a diversion of these earmarked funds meant for the welfare of SCs and STs. The funds earmarked for the welfare of SCs and STs are being diverted to fulfill the commitments made by Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, which constitutes a violation of constitutional provisions.

 

Union Minister Shri Meghwal pointed out that while Rahul Gandhi often carries the Constitution with him, he was unable to answer questions about specific chapters and pages when questioned. Article 338 establishes the National Commission for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, which has also reported the diversion of funds in Karnataka. Out of the allotted ₹39,121 crore for SCSP (Scheduled Caste Sub Plan) and TSP (Tribal Sub Plan), ₹14,730.53 crore has been diverted, and this amount is being used to fulfil commitments made by the Congress party.

 

Shri Meghwal stated that this is a blatant violation of the constitution and the government that came to power in the name of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes is actually strangling the Scheduled Castes and Tribal society itself. They are diverting the funds meant for their welfare into their political compulsions, which the BJP strongly condemns and demands strict action against.

 

Hon’ble Union Minister Shri Meghwal stated that by running a fake narrative against the sacred copy of the Constitution, Rahul Gandhi may have won some seats, but he cannot win the hearts of the Scheduled Caste and Tribal communities. Therefore, strict action from the Karnataka government must be taken. The public is watching Rahul Gandhi's double standards and he should come forward with his response on this issue.
