Senior BJP Leader and former MP, Shri GVL Narasimha Rao addressed a press conference at the party's central office on Wednesday. During the conference, Shri Rao highlighted that the nation has welcomed the Union Budget under the leadership of Hon'ble PM Shri Narendra Modi Ji. He also criticised the Congress-INDI alliance for spreading a false narrative about the neglect of other states in the budget.

Shri Rao stated that the budget presented by Union Finance Minister Smt Nirmala Sitharaman under the leadership of Hon’ble PM Shri Narendra Modi Ji was welcomed by everyone. The entire country views this budget as progressive, with a focus on people, farmers and employment. It lays out a vision for a ‘Viksit Bharat’ and has been received positively nationwide. The entire nation supports the Hon'ble Prime Minister's efforts to achieve India’s developmental goals.

Senior BJP Leader Shri Rao emphasized that balanced development has been a key focus of Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji over the past decade, reflected in every budget during this period. This year's budget continues that focus, especially on backward states and the eastern region, to ensure equitable development. With an overall expenditure of over ₹48 lakh crore, the budget addresses every section of society and every state. Special allocations have been made to certain states considering their developmental needs and past neglect, aiming to help them catch up with other regions. The criticism and opposition to the Union Budget 2024-25 by Congress and the INDI alliance reflect their political frustration and negative attitude towards the backward states that require special development.

Shri Rao pointed out that the Congress party's manifesto mentions their commitment to Andhra Pradesh, stating that they will grant special category status to the state as promised in 2014. No other state is mentioned in their manifesto except Andhra Pradesh. Other than this, only two Union Territories are mentioned, but no other states. Andhra Pradesh currently needs special assistance due to the ravages of division and bifurcation.  Despite coming to power for 10 years, from 2004 to 2014 with support from Andhra Pradesh, the Congress party betrayed the state and its people.

Senior BJP Leader Shri Rao stated that despite forming governments with Andhra Pradesh's support in 2004 and 2009, the Congress party's popularity has reduced to just 1% in the state. Shri Rao noted that despite such a significant setback, the Congress party appears reluctant to learn, and the people of Andhra Pradesh will never forgive them for this. Another local manifesto released by Congress in Andhra Pradesh underscored their acknowledgement of the state's need for special assistance. In the recent budget, the BJP has facilitated financial aid through multilateral agencies specifically for Andhra Pradesh. This aid was necessary due to the state being left without capital following hurried actions by the Congress party in 2014, driven purely by political motives during the state's bifurcation.

Shri Rao underscored that the 'Purvodaya' plan aims to benefit states across the eastern corridors, including West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha and Andhra Pradesh. This initiative is designed to attract investments in infrastructure, human resource development, education and enhance employment opportunities. It represents a consistent policy of India under Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji's leadership. The Congress party's inability to accept the necessity of assisting underdeveloped regions of the country and its discomfort with initiatives aimed at such development is evident. The INDI alliance's resistance to such assistance stems from their anti-development stance, focusing instead on divisive politics rather than a cohesive vision for progress.

Senior BJP Leader Shri Rao emphasized that the Congress party and Rahul Gandhi owe apologies to the people of Andhra Pradesh and Bihar for belittling the significance of the special budget announcements for these states. The core issue for the INDI alliance and Congress party lies in their failed attempts to fracture the NDA government immediately after the elections. Despite multiple efforts in Parliament, the Congress party now recognizes that their hopes of destabilizing the NDA coalition are futile. The Congress party bears responsibility for the current challenges faced by the Andhra Pradesh state government, having hastily pursued the bifurcation of the state solely for political gain. Their actions have inflicted considerable harm on Andhra Pradesh by depriving it of adequate time and resources. Shri Rao cautioned the Congress party against causing any more harm to Andhra Pradesh. He emphasized that the state has already suffered enough damage and the people will not tolerate any further actions that negatively affect them.
