Cabinet Minister, Govt. of Uttar Pradesh and Senior BJP leader Smt Baby Rani Maurya addressed a press conference at the party’s headquarters in New Delhi on Thursday. During the press conference, Smt. Maurya strongly criticized the attempts and announcements made by Congress to interfere with the reservation system for Dalits and backward classes. She emphasized the welfare initiatives undertaken for Dalits and women under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi.

 

Smt. Baby Rani Maurya emphasized that the Bharatiya Janata Party has entrusted her with significant responsibilities, including serving as the Mayor of Agra, a member of the National Commission for Women, appointing her as the Governor of Uttarakhand, and currently, as a cabinet minister in the Uttar Pradesh government. If the BJP wasn't working for the welfare of Dalits and women in the country, how could numerous women like her have achieved such positions of prominence? She credited Under the leadership of the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the Bharatiya Janata Party has a special dedication towards empowering Dalits and women in the country. This is evident from the fact that individuals like myself have been entrusted with significant responsibilities.

 

Uttar Pradesh Minister Smt. Baby Rani Maurya expressed distress over the Congress Party leaders' discussions about altering reservation policies, deeming it deeply troubling. Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi is dedicated to realizing the aspirations of Baba Saheb Ambedkar by upholding the dignity and self-respect that Dr. B.R. Ambedkar envisioned for the Dalits through reservation. Since 2014, under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, essential amenities such as permanent housing, sanitation facilities, education, and subsidized food have been extended to every rural area and corner of the country.

 

Bhartiya Janta Party Smt Maurya asked the following questions to Congress and INDI Alliance -:

 

1.      Will the Congress and Indi alliance provide a written assurance that they will never grant reservation based on religion? This request stems from a lack of trust due to past attempts to introduce religion-based reservation in Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka. If Congress does not do this then it is clear that it is hatching such a conspiracy?

2.      Why did Congress eliminate SC, ST and OBC reservation from educational institutions like AMU and Jamia Millia Islamia? Is the Congress ready to say in public and in writing that it supports reservation for SC, ST and OBC students in Aligarh Muslim University and Jamia Millia Islamia?

3.      Is the Congress prepared to provide a written commitment that it will not advocate for the reinstatement of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir, thereby ensuring that the rights of SC, ST, and OBC communities are not compromised?

4.      Why did Congress give OBC quota reservation to Muslims in Karnataka?

5.      Baba Saheb was against religion-based reservation but the Congress government is working on the hidden agenda of giving religion-based reservation for vote bank and appeasement politics. Is Congress planning to give religion-based reservation? Congress should clarify this?

6.      Is Congress seeking to abolish the reservation cap imposed by the Supreme Court? Congress should specify who would benefit from this expanded reservation. Is Congress prepared to provide written assurance regarding the recipients of this increased reservation?

7.      Congress had rejected every proposal to give reservation to OBCs. Why did Congress not give constitutional status to OBC Commission?

8.      Is Congress implying wealth redistribution in its manifesto, potentially seizing property from SC, ST, OBC communities to benefit a specific minority group? Congress should give its clarification on this.

 

Smt. Baby Rani Maurya emphasized that the Congress must respond to these inquiries because individuals from Dalit, tribal, and backward communities are eager to understand if the party intends to tamper with the reservation system designed for their upliftment. Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has prioritized the education and health of Dalits across the nation by establishing hospitals and educational institutions in every region. Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi, and Congress National President Mallikarjun Kharge should provide written clarification on their stance regarding reservation.
