Bharatiya Janata Party Senior Leader and Former Union Minister Shri Rajeev Chandrasekhar addressed a press conference at the party’s headquarters in New Delhi on Friday. During the conference, Shri Chandrasekhar mentioned that the UNGA President praised the Modi government for its work in this direction, which has uplifted 80 crore out of poverty in India.

Shri Chandrasekhar stated that yesterday, the United Nations General Assembly President presented India as an example to the world, stating that 80 crore people have been lifted out of poverty and 25 crore people out of multidimensional poverty. This achievement, driven by Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji's digital revolution and pro-poor policies, reflects an unprecedented transformation over the past decade. The President stated that every country should formulate policies to uplift their poor people in a similar manner.

Former Union Minister Shri Chandrasekhar noted that the UNGA President highlighted how digitalization and mobile phones significantly improved the lives of 80 crore people. Before 2014, the Indian Central government was globally perceived as dysfunctional, leaky and corrupt. Before 2014, India's banking system mainly served the rich and middle class, leaving the poor disconnected and internet access was limited to 17 crore people. After 2014, under Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji's government, internet access expanded from 17 crore to 90 crore over 10 years and the number of bank account holders increased from 14 crore to 52 crore.

Shri Chandrasekhar highlighted that efforts under Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji's government have uplifted over 25 crore people out of multidimensional poverty, provided free rations to 80 crore and distributed more than 200 crore vaccines during the COVID era. These achievements have received global praise. Former British Prime Minister Tony Blair urged Britain to adopt India's policies. In this context, Shri Chandrasekhar addressed the opposition who questioned the Central government's performance over the past decade. He emphasized that Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji has focused on developing and empowering the poor and farmers, particularly through technical advancements and support.
