A press conference was conducted at the Bharatiya Janata Party’s headquarters in New Delhi, by BJP Senior leader and Member of Parliament Shri Ravi Shankar Prasad on Wednesday. During the press conference Shri Prasad criticized West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and members of the INDI alliance for their conspicuous silence on the atrocities against women in Sandeshkhali. Shri Ravi Shankar Prasad questioned Mamata Banerjee's defense of Shahjahan Sheikh. Additionally, he criticized INC MP Rahul Gandhi's remarks regarding the youth of Uttar Pradesh.

Shri Ravi Shankar Prasad emphasized the severity of the situation in Sandeshkhali, highlighting the well-known stance of the Honorable Calcutta High Court. The court questioned how a single individual, Shahjahan Shiekh, could hold the entire state to ransom. It raised concerns about his non-arrest despite police and ED raids, which arguably fueled the problem. The subsequent reports of assaults, humiliations, and sexual violence against women reflect poorly on our society and democracy.

BJP MP Shri Ravi Shankar Prasad questioned why West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee is currently defending TMC leader Shahjahan Shiekh. Mamata prevented Shri Suvendu Adhikari from going to Sandeshkhali initially, but he eventually went under the orders of the High Court. Shri Prasad mentioned that women in distress have reached out to Shri Suvendu, along with several women journalists from Delhi who confirmed the dire situation. Furthermore, Shri Prasad commended the media personnel from Delhi for their extensive coverage of the Sandeshkhali issue and for sending reporters to investigate, even though one journalist was arrested in the process. Shri Ravi Shankar highlighted that they all echoed the same sentiment, questioning what Mamata Banerjee intends to conceal and why. Shri Prasad criticized Mamata Banerjee, stating that as a woman Chief minister, she is jeopardizing the dignity of women to safeguard her political image, questioning the whereabouts of her conscience.

BJP leader Shri Ravishankar Prasad recalled the time when Mamata Banerjee bravely fought against the atrocities of the CPM, earning admiration and praise for her unwavering struggle, including her indefinite hunger strike. However, he questioned what has changed now, as the current situation suggests that the atrocities and police oppression under her administration have surpassed those of the CPM era. One can't help but wonder if Mamata Banerjee has ever reflected deeply on her own inner convictions amidst these troubling developments.

Shri Ravi Shankar Prasad emphasized the commendable bravery of the women of Sandeshkhali. Shri Prasad raised questions about the possibility of land being seized and fields flooded with saltwater just 75-80 km away from Kolkata. Shri Prasad remarked that it's astounding to see what questions are being asked by Mamata Banerjee's SIT, as reported by several newspapers. Shri Prasad highlighted the strict guidelines of the Supreme Court regarding sexual assault and women abuse, insisting that inquiries should adhere to these norms.
Shri Prasad expressed concern about the approach of the SIT, mentioning that they are repeatedly asking the same questions to the public. Shri Prasad questioned whether the SIT is genuinely seeking information or further insulting the affected individuals, potentially damaging their morale. Shri Prasad stated that the BJP has officially condemned this behavior on a national level. Shri Prasad emphasized that Mamata Banerjee will be held accountable for this issue, as the public will provide her with a political response. He indicated that she will face consequences for her actions.

Shri Ravi Shankar Prasad expressed that, Bharatiya Janata Party deeply values its Karyakarta who are tirelessly working in Sandeshkhali. The entire party stands united in full force. On this note, he questioned, why is the rest of the party remaining silent? One of CPM’s have visited Sandeshkhali, yet CPM has not officially protested. INC Leader Rahul Gandhi, known for speaking on various issues, remains silent. An incident occurred in Chandigarh, and BJP respects the Supreme Court's decision, with everyone echoing the matter. While the opposition discusses Chandigarh's mayoral election issue, the same people remain silent on the atrocities in Sandeshkhali, where the dignity of mothers, daughters, and sisters is being violated.

BJP MP Shri Ravi Shankar Prasad pointed out that while the opposition accuses the BJP of promoting democracy, people feel insecure under their administration. Conversely, women are facing threats to their safety under the rule of the opposition, encountering repression supported by the government police force. The silence of leaders like Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi, Mamata Banerjee, leftist figures, and Arvind Kejriwal highlights the blatant hypocrisy and double standards of the opposition parties, evident to all.

BJP leader Shri Prasad emphasized that the opposition has no authority to discuss the dignity of women. He expressed pride in the BJP government's initiatives like "Beti Bachao Beti Padhao" and its commitment to respecting women. However, he noted the absence of any criticism on the issue of Sandeshkhali from the opposition. He lamented the unfortunate situation in Sandeshkhali, where the opposition should feel ashamed and they lack the courage to speak out about it. Shri Prasad questioned what this silence should be labeled as? The BJP wishes to pose a question to leaders of the disintegrated INDI government: why the silence? Do the dignity and safety of the women in Sandeshkhali hold no significance for them? The opposition's pursuit of votes knows no bounds. It's noteworthy how they remained silent on triple talaq while the government, led by PM Narendra Modi, introduced the bill. This silence persists even today.

BJP MP Shri Ravi Shankar Prasad emphasized that when voting is at stake, the opposition tends to disregard the dignity of women. Whether a woman faces eviction from her home with the words 'talaq, talaq, talaq', or suffers dishonor in silence, these individuals opt to ignore her suffering. Shri Prasad questioned Rahul Gandhi's perspective on the nation. Does he prioritize his ego above all else? Does he view the country as insignificant, allowing himself the liberty to bring disgrace upon it? When he traveled from Bihar to Chandauli, one of his schedules was revealed. How did he react to the inauguration of the Ram temple? Did he present himself humbly, as a farmer or a tea seller? Ambani and Adani were merely observers. Rahul Gandhi should refrain from disrespecting Lord Ram. Rahul Gandhi failed to comprehend the presence of thousands of saints at the site, with about 40-50 lakh people having visited thus far. the Prime Minister himself honoring the temple's laborers, then it's worth considering. Rahul Gandhi's political strategies are one thing, but his actions and their consequences will be revealed in the elections. However, he please desists from disrespecting Lord Shri Ram in this manner. "Rahul Gandhi, halt your attacks on the faith of the majority of Indian people; we hold great reverence for Shri Ram."

BJP Leader Shri Ravishankar Prasad stated that Rahul Gandhi's remark alleging that the entire populace of Uttar Pradesh is intoxicated is unacceptable. Is this the appropriate language to use, especially for the region where his family has held sway and where he and his MP’s hail from? Uttar Pradesh, a state that has attracted significant investment, with the Prime Minister injecting capital worth thousands of crores and offering ample job opportunities, is being labeled by Rahul Gandhi as a place where the entire youth is engulfed in drug abuse. Shri Prasad condemned Rahul Gandhi, stating, "Shame on you." While he's entitled to criticize his supporters and party members, he should avoid making remarks about the youth of the nation and the devotees of Shri Ram.
