Senior Bharatiya Janata Party Leader and Lok Sabha MP Shri Ravi Shankar Prasad addressed a press conference at the party’s headquarters in New Delhi, on Tuesday. During the conference, Shri Prasad stated that Rahul Gandhi's prejudice against reservation has become clear. He claimed that opposing reservation is part of Congress' legacy and accused the party of having a well-planned strategy to abolish it as soon as they got the chance. Shri Prasad emphasized that Congress is against reservation and stands in opposition to the interests of Dalits, tribals and OBCs.

 

Shri Prasad stated that Rahul Gandhi often waves the Constitution, and a discussion can be had on his understanding of it. Rahul Gandhi, who claims to save the Constitution, said in America that the Congress would scrap the reservation when the situation is right. The prejudice in Rahul Gandhi’s heart against reservation has been reflected in his remarks in America. Opposition to reservation is his legacy. In Jawaharlal Nehru’s letter he had advised the Chief Ministers that merit shouldn’t be compromised. Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi also openly opposed reservation. Rahul Gandhi, who claims to protect the Constitution, has committed the greatest fraud and deception against it. The right to reservation, granted through the efforts of Baba Saheb Bhimrao Ambedkar, ensures opportunities for SC, ST, OBC and EBC in education and employment. SC and ST have reservations in both the Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha. 

 

Senior BJP Leader Shri Prasad stated that Rahul Gandhi must explain the meaning of his remark, it is not just an off-the-cuff comment. He was responding to questions at an American university, not in a casual gathering in India. This is a well-planned strategy and conspiracy to scrap reservation when given the opportunity. The Congress party is anti-reservation, anti-Dalit, anti-tribal and anti-OBC, as they consistently oppose the interests of these communities.

 

Shri Prasad criticized Rahul Gandhi, stating that while he frequently talks about reservation, the Congress leadership position seems "reserved" for him because of his family. Shri Prasad questioned whether there is any space for Dalit, OBC, or Adivasi leaders to hold the top post in Congress, pointing out that regardless of performance, Rahul Gandhi remains the leader. Congress opposes democratic values by keeping the leadership reserved for one family. In contrast, he highlighted the BJP's commitment to representation, noting that Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji comes from the OBC community and that under BJP rule, two Presidents of India, including Smt. Droupadi Murmu is from the Adivasi background and one (Shri Ramnath Kovind) is from the Dalit community. BJP don't just talk, we act.

 

Senior BJP Leader Shri Prasad emphasized that the BJP has consistently appointed Chief Ministers and Deputy Chief Ministers from SC and OBC communities across many states. Leaders like Shri Kalyan Singh, Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Smt. Uma Bharti, Shri Sushil Modi, Shri Narendra Modi, Shri Gopinath Munde, Shri Samrat Choudhary, Shri Vishnu Deo Sai and Shri Mohan Yadav, all of whom hail from backward sections of society. Rahul Gandhi's true intentions have been exposed, his promise to safeguard the Constitution is merely a sham.

 

Shri Prasad stated that Congress' claims of respecting the Constitution were exposed when the party opposed the film named ‘Emergency’, which highlighted the dark period during the Emergency, where media was censored and the judiciary was superseded. Rahul Gandhi consistently defamed India whenever he traveled abroad. His mission was to demean, degrade, and insult the country, whenever he went abroad.

Rahul Gandhi has made many controversial statements abroad, including his remark in London in March 2023, where he stated that "India is a Union of States" and claimed that India's federal structure was under attack, even calling for Europe and America to intervene. Rahul Gandhi also said, "India's voice has been suppressed," described Kashmir as "a place of violence," downplayed the Pulwama attack as "a car blast," and alleged that the Pegasus spyware was used against opposition leaders. Rahul Gandhi praised China's development, claiming it was in harmony with nature. In 2022, while speaking in London, Rahul Gandhi remarked that what Russia is doing in Ukraine, China is doing in Ladakh. He also commented that the Indian Foreign Service has completely changed, which caused anguish among Foreign Service Officers. In 2021, at Brown University, he stated that even Muammar Gaddafi and Saddam Hussein won elections. This is the level of insult to Indian democracy. In 2018, in Malaysia, Rahul Gandhi stated that he would have thrown the proposal of demonetization in the dustbin. Shri Prasad said that Indian Overseas Congress leader Sam Pitroda said, “Rahul Gandhi is not ‘Pappu', he is a sensible person,” which also validates his his apprehensions.

 

Shri Prasad asked the constituent parties of the INDI Alliance that Rahul Gandhi has said in America that he will end reservation as soon as he gets the opportunity. Why are all the allies of the INDI Alliance, including Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav, DMK chief MK Stalin, the left parties, are silent on this statement of Rahul Gandhi? Why do Lalu Prasad and Tejaswi Yadav are silent, who always raise the flag of reservation? The BJP clearly states that it will oppose every stance of Congress party, Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi's attempt to scrap the reservation. The OBC Commission has also been granted constitutional status. BJP's actions speak for themselves, reflecting the work done for their development and the party will continue these efforts.
