Hon’ble National President of Bharatiya Janata Party and Union Minister Shri Jagat Prakash Nadda addressed eminent personalities from various fields in Palakkad, Kerala, on Sunday. During the event, Shri Nadda highlighted the development achievements of the Centre under the leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji while criticizing the Congress and Communist parties for their involvement in violence and corruption.
Shri Nadda stated that Kerala, known for its social reforms, is a land of social leaders. He also praised the people of Kerala for their hard work and dedication, expressing his respect for them. In the Lok Sabha elections of 2014, the vote share of BJP in Palakkad was 15%. By 2019, it had increased to 21.3%, and in 2024, it further rose to 24.3%. We are optimistic that your support for us will continue to grow in the coming times. Slowly and steadily, support for the BJP in Kerala is increasing. Thanks to the people of Kerala, for the first time in 2015, the BJP won the municipal corporation of Palakkad. In 2020, out of 52 seats, the BJP secured 28 seats. The BJP is deeply grateful for the overwhelming support for the 'Lotus' symbol. For the first time, the BJP represents Kerala in the Lok Sabha.
BJP National President Shri Nadda stated that since 2014, the change has not been limited to just the government or a political party; it has brought about a transformation in the culture of politics. Those previously in power promoted casteism, regionalism, and dynastic rule, and were supporters of the politics of appeasement. Congress introduced vote bank politics, which was later adopted by the LDF, CPM. This vote bank strategy heavily influenced their policies. However, after Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji assumed power, the political culture has undergone a complete transformation. Reforms, report card politics, accountability, and development have now become the foundation of Indian politics. While other political parties would present manifestos without follow-up, it was Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji who introduced the concept of report card politics, focusing on accountability and measurable outcomes.
Shri Nadda stated that the party follows the 'P2-G2' model, which stands for 'Pro-People and Good Governance.' The government is transparent, pro-people, and committed to inclusive growth, guided by the mantra of 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas.' The BJP believes in 'Reform, Perform, and Transform' and maintains a strict 'Zero Tolerance' policy against corruption. IIn the third term of Hon'ble PM Shri Narendra Modi Ji, it's time to focus on making India 'Atma Nirbhar' and 'Viksit Bharat.' Under the dynamic leadership of the Prime Minister, the goals are clear, and the government is working diligently in that direction, with all parameters aligned accordingly. Our objectives for a Viksit Bharat by 2047 are set, and our policy formations are in line with this goal of making India a developed nation by 2047. While the world grapples with inflation, conflict, and political instability, India remains stable. Inflation is under control, and GDP growth is strong, steadily around 7-8%. In contrast, countries like the U.S., Russia, China, and many European nations are experiencing GDP growth rates of around 3% or lower.
BJP National President Shri Nadda remarked that it is unclear how much Congress leaders, including the brother and sister, understand about the economy. During the Congress regime, inflation was in double digits, and GDP growth was slow, yet they continue to comment on economic matters. Over the past decade, India has advanced from being the 11th largest economy to the 5th largest. Under Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji’s third term, India is set to become the 3rd largest economy in the world. Shri Nadda noted that while the opposition criticizes the government for unemployment, they overlook that controlled inflation, rapid GDP growth, and extensive developments naturally lead to job creation. Infrastructure improvements, such as the transition from small roads to four-lane roads in Kerala, have been accompanied by significant employment opportunities.
BJP National President Shri Nadda highlighted that during the COVID-19 pandemic, while many countries struggled, Hon'ble PM Shri Narendra Modi Ji introduced a comprehensive package to boost infrastructure, provide food grains to the poor, and support farmers and MSMEs. This strategy propelled India ahead of many nations. He noted significant achievements, including a rise in electronic manufacturing from ₹1.8 lakh crore to ₹8 lakh crore, defence exports reaching ₹21,000 crore (with a reduced reliance on imports), and a leap from being the 4th to the 2nd largest steel manufacturing hub. The toy exports have tripled and pharmaceutical exports have surged by 138%, positioning India as the world's most affordable pharmacy. Previously, 97% of mobile phones were imported, but now 92% are manufactured in India. Despite these positive developments, the Congress party only focuses on negatives. According to the World Bank, 25 crore people in India have been lifted above the poverty line, and the IMF reports that extreme poverty in India is now below 1%.
Shri Nadda highlighted that in the real estate sector, India leads the Asia-Pacific region in investment trust markets. Foreign exchange reserves are at an all-time high of USD 681 billion. India is also at the forefront of financial technology, with INR 2.5 lakh crore invested in fintech, and fintech startups have grown by 500%. These developments underscore India's rapid progress and growth.
BJP National President Shri Nadda stated that Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji believed in JAM (Jan Dhan, Aadhaar, Mobile). When the PM introduced JAM, the Congress criticized India as uneducated and questioned the effectiveness of digitalisation. However, today, even small grocery stores accept payments via UPI, with shopkeepers asking customers to scan QR codes. India accounts for 40% of the world's total online transactions, highlighting the success and widespread adoption of digital payments. The number of broadband users has surged from 6 crore to nearly 94 crore. Banks were nationalized in 1971 with a focus on the poor, but there were only 3 crore accounts. Today, the number of bank account holders has risen to 53 crore. The number of national highways has significantly increased, and the number of airports has grown from 74 to 148. Additionally, the number of AIIMS has risen from 7-8 to 22. We have also got 7 new IIT and practically we have got 1 new IIT and IIM every year. The new education policy came after 4 decades which is affordable and gives equal opportunity to all and accepted by all. Now the medium of education has been converted into the mother language.
Shri Nadda stated that people questioned the impact of GST, noting that in earlier times, trucks would wait for hours on national highways to pay taxes, leading to significant losses in manpower, diesel, and time. However, under the Modi Ji government, this has changed. Travel from Palakkad to Mumbai is now possible without any tax-related delays, and the journey, which previously took 18 hours, now takes just 12 hours. In the third Modi government, a new Unified Pension Scheme has been launched, providing assured income after retirement. Additionally, the government has committed to constructing 3 crore more rural and urban houses, aligning with the Prime Minister's vision that no one should live in a temporary house. While the Congress party allocated ₹57,000 crore for this purpose, Hon’ble PM Shri Narendra Modi Ji's government is now distributing ₹20,000 crore in each installment, with over ₹3.8 lakh crore already disbursed to farmers. Under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana, over 25 crore people have been uplifted above the poverty line. Additionally, 4 crore houses have been constructed under the Awas Yojana, including 2 lakh houses in Kerala. The Swachh Bharat Yojana has resulted in the construction of more than 11 crore toilets nationwide, with 2.5 lakh toilets built in Kerala. Under the Ujjwala Yojana, 10 crore gas connections have been provided nationwide, including 3.5 lakh in Kerala and 10,000 in Palakkad. Under the leadership of Hon’ble PM Shri Narendra Modi Ji, more than 12 crore 78 lakh families, totaling 55 crore people, have benefited from a ₹5 lakh per year free health cover, making it the world’s largest health coverage scheme.
BJP National President Shri Nadda stated that under the Jal Jeevan Mission, over 11 crore 8 lakh water connections have been provided across the nation, including 21 lakh in Kerala. He also highlighted that under the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme, 11 crore 78 lakh farmers have benefited, with 25 lakh from Kerala and 1.1 lakh farmers from Palakkad receiving 2,000 rupees every fourth month. Shri Nadda addressed the narrative of "What has Kerala received?" by pointing out that the Centre has increased the tax devolution to Kerala threefold. From 2014 to 2024, the amount allocated was raised to ₹1.5 lakh crore, and the grant-in-aid, which was ₹25,629 crore in 2014, increased to ₹1.44 lakh crore by 2024. Meanwhile, two Vande Bharat trains are currently operational in Kerala, enhancing the state's connectivity. Additionally, more than 1,200 kilometers of national highways have been extended in Kerala, significantly improving links with Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. The opening of one section of the Kuthiran Tunnel has further boosted this connectivity. Moreover, the Kochi Metro has been inaugurated, and an international ship repair facility has been established in Kochi, resulting in more than 25% of the country's ship repairs now taking place in Kerala.
Shri Nadda highlighted that significant development has taken place, mentioning the Mumbai to Kanyakumari corridor, which links Palakkad to Kasaragod, Thrissur to Kozhikode, Ernakulam to Tiruchirapalli, Alappuzha to Thiruvananthapuram. This corridor showcases the signs of development and improved connectivity across Kerala. The development in roads, airports, railways, and highways has significantly boosted connectivity, which in turn strengthens the state's economy. A mega food park and a new IIT campus, with its main campus in Palakkad district, have been inaugurated. Shri Nadda stated that Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji’s agenda of development is not just in isolation or mere words but is clearly reflected in his deeds and actions, which we can witness across the nation.
BJP National President Shri Nadda mentioned that the LDF and UDF have destroyed the culture of Kerala; they are just different sides of the same coin. Kerala, once known for its peace, development, and education, has now become a land marred by violence and corruption. The political leaders in Kerala have lost their moral credibility, with many tainted by corruption scandals, including the loan scam and the cooperative scam. Several of the Chief Minister’s close aides have been implicated in the gold scam and have even served time in jail, yet the CM shows no remorse. The Chief Minister has lost all moral authority to govern the state. The Congress and the Communist Party are allies in the Centre but enemies in Kerala. Both parties and their alliance are ideologically bankrupt. They are together only for power as they can’t remain without power.
Shri Nadda slammed the Kerala government and questioned what is stopping them from releasing the Justice Hima report. He added that the reason for this is that the Chief Minister’s party is involved in the matter, which is haunting the state government. This involvement has compelled them to hide the report because their own people are implicated. The Modi government operates with complete transparency, and with the support of all the hardworking karyakartas, the 'Lotus will blossom in Kerala as well.' The Justice Hima Committee report specifically states that Communist Party leaders are involved. The Chief Minister should come forward and clarify what really happened. The calamity in Wayanad was very severe. The Prime Minister visited the affected areas and consoled the victims. Shri Nadda noted that Pinarayi Vijayan was informed in a timely manner, with the NDRF also arriving as scheduled. The question remains: what led Chief Minister Vijayan to display such callousness towards the situation? In the case of monkeypox, the Union Health Ministry swiftly convened a review meeting. Similarly, for Zika and Nipah viruses, the Centre has been actively reviewing the situation. Although the IMD sent timely warnings to Kerala, the state government failed to respond promptly. Shri Jagat Prakash Nadda mentioned that under the dynamic leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji, the BJP aims to transform India’s destiny and envision it as a developed nation. He expressed confidence that in 2026, the people of Palakkad will choose the BJP candidate for the state assembly.
