Union Defence Minister Shri Rajnath Singh addressed public meetings in Garhwal, Almora, and Nainital in Uttarakhand on Friday. In his address, Union Defence Minister Shri Rajnath Singh praised the developmental works under the leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi in the BJP government and compared it with the previous governments. During the events, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami, former Chief Ministers Shri Teerath Singh Rawat and Shri Vijay Bahuguna, Uttarakhand Cabinet Minister Shri Dhan Singh Rawat, Union Minister of State and BJP Lok Sabha candidates Shri Ajay Bhatt, Shri Anil Baluni, BJP MLAs Shri Anil Nautiyal, Shri Bharat Chaudhary, Shri Rajendra Bhandari, and other leaders were present.
Union Defence Minister Shri Rajnath Singh commenced his address by paying respects to Uttarakhand, a state known as Devbhoomi and for safeguarding India's borders. Shri Rajnath Singh mentioned that many brave soldiers from the spiritual land of Uttarakhand are serving in the Indian Army, and the demand for One Rank One Pension by former-servicemen has been implemented under the leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. Praising the development work of Uttarakhand CM Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami, Shri Rajnath Singh said that Uttarakhand Chief Minister Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami is an all-rounder champion of the game. Shri Rajnath Singh likened Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami's leadership to a skilled cricketer who knows how to stay on the pitch and score boundaries, as well as take wickets when bowling. Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami has uprooted the wickets of all political parties in Uttarakhand.
Shri Rajnath Singh stated that during the opposition's governance, there have been scandals like the Bofors scam, helicopter scam, defence deals scam, and numerous other corrupt practices. Shri Singh mentioned that due to serious allegations of corruption, the opposition has faced downfall several times. In the last 10 years of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi's government, there have been no allegations of corruption of any kind. Shri Singh conveyed that during the time of Rajiv Gandhi’s governance out of 100 paisa sent from Delhi, only 14 paisa reached the people, and the rest 86 paisa ended up in corruption. The Bharatiya Janata Party accepted this challenge and eradicate corruption through Jan Dhan accounts.
Shri Rajnath Singh stated that India has become a powerful nation, conveying the message of "Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam". Shri Singh conveyed that India believes in maintaining good relations with its neighbouring countries, but if any country harbours malicious intentions, India is capable of responding. Under the leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, Uttarakhand has witnessed unprecedented development. Until 2019, there were water problems in Garhwal, but today, every household in Garhwal receives ‘nal se jal’. The construction of ropeways in Yamunotri, Kedarnath, Badrinath, and Hemkund has made the routes extremely convenient. Shri Singh emphasized that the Bharatiya Janata Party has an ideology. Shri Rajnath Singh underscored the Bharatiya Janata Party's commitment to its principles and manifesto, ensuring alignment between its words and actions.
Shri Rajnath Singh criticized the Congress party and stated that opposition parties have been providing various assurances to the people of India for consecutive fifty five years. It is due to the disparity between the words and actions of opposition leaders that a crisis of confidence has emerged in Indian politics. The BJP accepted the people's distrust as a challenge and worked to earn their trust through its actions. Securing majorities in both the houses of Parliament, the BJP revoked Article 370 and upheld its pledge to enact the Citizenship Amendment Act. For decades, the BJP's manifesto vowed to construct an auspicious Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, a promise realised on January 22nd when Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone. The completion of Ram Mandir signifies the beginning of Ram Rajya.
Shri Singh remarked that under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, India's stature is rapidly rising globally. During the opposition's tenure, India did not receive the appropriate recognition on international platforms. However, due to the successful efforts of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, other countries now listen to India seriously on the international stage. Leaders of all nations are now saying that the 21st century belongs to India. Shri Rajnath Singh referred to the statement of US Ambassador Eric Garcetti, who mentioned that if any country wants to explore opportunities for the future, they should visit India. Now, the entire world holds this perspective towards India.
Shri Rajnath Singh stated that in 2014, India ranked 10th in the global economy. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, India has now become the 5th largest economic power in the world, and it is projected to reach the 3rd position by 2027. Under the BJP government led by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, 25 crore people have been lifted out of poverty. Shri Singh noted that previously, India relied on other countries for defence equipment, importing even the smallest of items. Today, India not only manufactures helicopters, missiles, tanks, and fighter planes domestically but also exports them to other countries. Within 7 years, India has exported goods worth ₹21,000 crore and is set to manufacture fighter plane engines domestically in the near future. Shri Singh asserted that after the 2024 elections, when people mention the Congress, the future generations will question, "Who is the Congress?" Just as dinosaurs disappeared from the Earth, the Congress will also become extinct. The Congress party has become slow, and internal conflicts have escalated.
Union Defence Minister Shri Rajnath Singh acknowledged the significant contribution of the Sikh community to the nation's security. In line with this recognition, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi facilitated the construction of the Kartarpur Sahib Corridor. During the Ram Janmabhoomi movement, Nihang saints were the first to take a stand. Shri Singh commended the efficient administration of Uttarakhand Chief Minister Shri Pushkar Singh Dham. Shri Rajnath Singh noted the establishment of new dimensions of development under his leadership in the state. He praised Nainital MP Shri Ajay Bhatt for his honesty and dedication in his political tenure. Shri Rajnath Singh remarked that Shri Anil Baluni is concerned about his culture and society, and he is sensitive to the suffering of the nation's people. Shri Rajnath Singh appealed to the electorate to ensure the victory of Lok Sabha candidate Shri Anil Baluni to uphold Uttarakhand's tradition and culture and contribute to strengthening the BJP in the country once again.
