on the demise of Shri Lalgudi Jayaraman
In the death of Shri Lalgudi Jayaraman, Indian classical music has lost a great guru.
Shri Jayaraman belongs to an illustrious family of musicians which draws its unbroken lineage from a direct disciple of Saint Tyagaraja, one of the Trimurtis of Carnatic music. Lalgudi was not only a violinist; he was an accomplished vocalist and a composer too. He composed several kritis, tillana and even dance-dramas. Each one piece that he composed was praised as masterpieces. His unique classical style came to be recognised as “LalgudiBani.”
The BJP mourns the death of the Shri Jayaraman. The BJP expresses its condolences to his family, shishyas and to all music lovers.
