Minister from Mauritius calls on Shri Rajnath Singh,

the President of the Bharatiya Janata Party

 Hon. Anil Kumar Bachoo, Minister of Environment and National Development Unit paid a courtesy call on Shri Rajnath Singh the President of Bharatiya Janata Party this morning. This was a part of the close contacts between the Bharatiya Janata Party and the political leaders in Mauritius. Shri Bachoo recalled the visits of various BJP leaders to Mauritius and the contribution made by these exchanges to the further strengthening of cultural and political bonds between the two countries.

People of Indian origin in Mauritius are keen to visit their ancestral villages and establish regular contacts with people in those areas. Shri Bachoo himself went to his ancestral village in Eastern U.P. but could not trace any relatives. Shri Rajnath Singh offered to assist him in this regard and immediately contacted the Member of Parliament of the area and put him in touch with Shri Bachoo, who now hopes to succeed in his efforts.

Shri Bachoo had come to India in connection with the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas and was happy to say that the people of Indian origin in Mauritius had continued to carry on with the cultural and religious traditions which they had taken with them from India years ago. He expressed the hope that the BJP President will visit Mauritius in the near future to see the Mauritian version of life in India.
