No Hindu minorities in Kashmir or NE – Rahman Khan, Minister of Minority Affairs.
Tarun Vijay alleges 'you have to be a non-Hindu to get scholarships in Hindustan'.
4th March, 2013, New Delhi - In a reply to a question put up by BJP MP and National Spokesperson, Tarun Vijay in Rajya Sabha today, Minister of Minority Affairs, Rahman Khan replied that there is no plan to provide financial assistance and scholarships to women and students belonging to communities which are in numerical minority in the states like Jammu & Kashmir and in the North East. When Tarun Vijay asked about the details and said what are the reasons for not making any scheme available to such minorities, the Minister replied that Ministry of Minority Affairs is mandated to oversee the socio economic development of notified minority communities in the country. Notified minority communities are those which have been notified under section 2(c) of the NCM Act, 1992. The schemes of this Ministry in the form of educational empowerment, economic empowerment, area development and strengthening of minority institutions are focused toward notified minority communities.
Speaking to the media on this issue, Shri Tarun Vijay alleged that the Government does not recognize Hindus as minorities either in Kashmir or in North East where they are forced to live in a most disadvantaged and marginalized minority. It is a shame that this so-called secular Government does not care for those minority Hindus who live in abject poverty and isolation in Kashmir valley and in Nagaland and Meghalaya.
