Hon’ble BJP National President Shri Jagat Prakash Nadda paid floral tributes to Dr Syama Prasad Mookerjee on Balidan Diwas

Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee is revered as a pioneer of India's unity and integrity. To build a Viksit, Atmnirbhar and strong India would be a true homage to him

*****************

Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee strongly opposed the imposition of Article 370 and the permit system in Jammu and Kashmir. He resigned from Pt. Nehru's cabinet, declaring, "Ek Desh Mein Do Nishan, Do Vidhan aur Do Pradhan Nahi Chalenge"

*****************

Dr. Mookerjee gave the ultimate sacrifice for the abolition of Article 370 and to preserve the nation's unity and integrity. He passed away under suspicious circumstances while in police custody. Despite his revered mother's plea for an investigation, the then Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru declined to order one

*****************

This reflects the type of democracy that prevailed in the country at that time and the conduct of the Prime Minister from the Congress party

*****************

During India's partition, when Congress leaders were negotiating with the Muslim League, which aimed to take control of all of Punjab and Bengal, Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee had mobilized a public movement to awaken the people. As a result, Punjab and Bengal became integral parts of Akhand Bharat

*****************

Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee did not enter politics for power but relinquished it for his principles and ideology

*****************

Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji has called upon people to plant trees in the name of their families under the "Ek Ped Maa ke Naam" program, starting from the 'Balidan Diwas' of Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee to his birth anniversary

*****************

Just as a mother nurtures and protects her entire family, similarly, a tree nourishes and protects the entire society. That's why the BJP is advancing the "Ek Ped Maa ke Naam" program

*****************

I appeal to all my karyakartas to plant a tree in gardens or parks and play their role in saving the environment

Hon’ble National President of BJP Shri Jagat Prakash Nadda, paid floral tributes to Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee, the founder of the Bharatiya Jana Sangh, on his martyrdom day at the BJP central office, New Delhi. On this occasion, the Hon’ble National President Shri Nadda also paid floral tributes to the statue of the revered Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay, the proponent of Integral Humanism. On Balidan Diwas, Shri Nadda appealed to the millions of Bharatiya Janata Party workers to support the "Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam" campaign by planting a tree in honor of their mother, following the call made by the esteemed Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji. Shri Nadda planted a sapling on this occasion and also distributed saplings.

Hon’ble National President of BJP, Shri Nadda stated that the karyakartas of the Bharatiya Janata Party commemorate the death anniversary of the revered Dr. Syama Prasad Mukherjee as Balidan Diwas. On June 23, 1953, Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee took his last breath in a precarious condition in a Srinagar jail, in a mysterious circumstance that remains a question mark for all of us. We all recognize his life as that of a patriot, an educationist, and a leader committed to social justice.

Shri Nadda highlighted Dr Syama Prasad Mookerjee's significant contributions as an educationist, noting that he was one of the youngest Vice Chancellor of Calcutta University, exemplifying his multifaceted talent. Later, driven by his patriotism, Dr. Mookerjee entered politics. Today, it can be said that the present-day Punjab and West Bengal are owed to the esteemed Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee. During the partition of India, when Congress and the Muslim League had decided to take all of Punjab and Bengal, Dr. Syama Mookerjee led a Jan Andolan, fighting and awakening the public. It is due to his efforts that the present-day Punjab and Bengal exist as part of India, contributing to the vision of an Akhand Bharat that we see today.

Hon’ble BJP national President stated that Dr Syama Prasad Mookerjee dedicated his life to an ideology, not to attain political power. He occupied positions of power multiple times but always renounced them for the sake of his ideologies. During that time he took charge as minister in Bengal, but he gave up his position due to his convictions. When Jawaharlal Nehru formed his cabinet, Dr. Mookerjee served as the Minister of Industry. However, he raised his voice against Nehru's pseudo-secularism, expressing his dissent over Nehru's tendency to capitulate to the Muslim League and communal forces.

Shri Nadda highlighted that Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee raised the issue of Jammu and Kashmir, stating there was no reason to implement Article 370. While opposing Article 370, Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee resigned from Jawahar Lal Nehru's cabinet and raised the slogan "Ek Desh Mein Do Nishan, Do Vidhan Aur Do Pradhan" will not be allowed and led a Satyagraha based on this principle. At that time, entry into Jammu and Kashmir required a permit under Article 370, but Dr. Mookerjee chose not to obtain one. As a result, he was arrested at the Jammu and Kashmir border and nearly a month later, he died in Srinagar’s jail in Jammu. Dr. Syama Prasad Mukherjee's mother asked Jawaharlal Nehru to initiate an investigation into his death, emphasizing her preference for an inquiry focused on the facts surrounding his demise rather than Nehru's explanations. However, former Prime Minister Nehru denied the inquiry. The issue for which Dr. Mookerjee sacrificed his life became the relentless battle of the Bharatiya Jan Sangh and later the Bharatiya Janata Party. As a result, under the leadership of Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi in 2019, Article 370 was revoked in the Lok Sabha on 5th August and in the Rajya Sabha on 6th August, establishing "Ek Desh Me Ek Nishan, Ek Vidhan Aur Ek Pradhan."

National President of BJP, Shri Nadda stated that crores of people following in the footsteps of Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee furthered this battle under the banner of the Bharatiya Jan Sangh and later the Bharatiya Janata Party, culminating in a decisive moment. It is saddening that the suspicious death of a senior leader was not investigated in a democracy under the Congress party's rule. However, our democracy has strengthened over time. Today, crores of people are prepared to sacrifice and follow in Dr. Mookerjee's footsteps to uphold his legacy and continue his work. Every year, the Bharatiya Janata Party observes Balidan Diwas, and this year, it has been linked with environmental conservation. Hon'ble PM Shri Narendra Modi Ji's initiative "Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam '' is dedicated to environmental conservation. Today, on Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee's Punya Tithi, we are advancing this program further. This program aims to highlight how just as a mother nurtures a family, a tree nurtures society and safeguards the entire community.

Hon’ble BJP National President appealed to every BJP karyakarta to plant a tree in the name of "Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam" and connect themselves with the environment. Shri Jagat Prakash Nadda expressed his hope that on Balidan Diwas, everyone would be granted strength to progress towards building a strong and secure India under the leadership of Hon'ble PM Shri Narendra Modi Ji. He encouraged all party karyakarta to envision a Viksit Bharat and Atmanirbhar Bharat, which would truly honor the legacy of Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee.
