Hailing from a humble background, Karpoori Thakur's journey from a financially challenged family to his relentless struggle for social justice, culminating in his role as the Chief Minister of Bihar, deserves greater acknowledgement. The significance of this gesture cannot be overstated, as it underscores the valor and commitment of individuals who rise against adversity to champion the cause of societal well-being. Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi's decision to confer the Bharat Ratna upon the Karpoori Thakur can be interpreted as more than just an individual honor. It symbolizes a broader recognition and appreciation for individuals hailing from the Other Backward Classes and those marginalized in society.
Karpoori Thakur's life was consistently devoted to the well-being of the underprivileged. His tireless efforts for the people of his community stand as a testament to his unwavering commitment. Throughout his life, he made significant sacrifices in the pursuit of welfare for the less fortunate, never once straying from his core principles. His dedication to the upliftment of the impoverished remained steadfast, making his legacy one of selfless service and principled action. Throughout his political career, Karpoori Thakur consistently championed the cause of the people. He staunchly opposed the unfortunate practices undertaken by the Congress during their time in Bihar. On behalf of all marginalized individuals, I express gratitude for the efforts made by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. His actions, including the decision to honor Karpoori Thakur, are acknowledged as significant steps towards recognizing and uplifting the voices of the marginalized communities.
Over the past decade, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has spearheaded remarkable initiatives in the realm of social justice and the upliftment of the economically disadvantaged. The strides made in these areas have been truly commendable. For Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji, the pursuit of social justice is a profound commitment. His efforts extend across a spectrum, encompassing significant work for the benefit of the poor, marginalized communities, women, youth, and farmers. He has implemented it by putting himself forward. For the first time post-independence, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi provided constitutional status to the Backward Classes Commission. Under his leadership, the government appointed over 27 backward class ministers; we have more than 100 backward class MPs, 300 backward class MLAs, and 65 MLCs representing the backward class. This underscores Prime Minister Modi's commitment to recognizing and respecting the backward classes in the pursuit of social justice in politics. I extend my congratulations and gratitude once again to the Prime Minister for the decision to confer the Bharat Ratna upon Jannayak Karpoori Thakur.
