Press Statement of Hon’ble BJP National President Shri Jagat Prakash Nadda

Hon’ble BJP National President Shri Jagat Prakash Nadda remarked that Mamata Banerjee’s administration in West Bengal had been providing OBC certificates and reservations to Muslim community under the OBC quota, an action nullified by the Calcutta High Court yesterday and also OBC certificates issued by the Trinamool government from 2010 to 2024 have also been invalidated.

BJP National President Shri Jagat Prakash Nadda commented that the ruling of the Calcutta High Court signifies that the Mamata government was unconstitutionally following a policy of appeasement. Essentially, the Trinamool Congress was advancing the agenda of the Muslim League. Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji prominently highlighted this issue during the elections, illustrating how the INDI Alliance, including Mamata, Rahul Gandhi, and others, are undermining the Constitution through appeasement politics. The Constitution explicitly prohibits reservation based on religion, yet this INDI Alliance is pushing forward the agenda of the Muslim League, the same agenda that led to India's partition.

Shri JP Nadda pointed out that following the High Court's ruling, Mamata Banerjee promptly declared her refusal to adhere to the court's order. Is Mamata Banerjee placing herself above the Constitution? Is it not her responsibility to operate within the framework of the Constitution? Is it not her duty to uphold the Constitution? Mamata Banerjee ought to recognize that no individual is superior to the Constitution. Moreover, Mamata Banerjee assumed the role of Chief Minister by swearing to safeguard the Constitution. Mamata Banerjee's statement represents a derogation of the Constitution.

Shri Nadda remarked that while Rahul Gandhi often parades around with a copy of the Constitution, he remains silent when the High Court's decisions expose the Muslim appeasement tactics of the INDI Alliance. The politics of appeasement evident in the actions of the INDI Alliance are apparent to all. The electorate of India will surely deliver a fitting lesson to such individuals in the upcoming elections. Similarly, in West Bengal, voters are expressing their discontent with Mamata Banerjee's appeasement politics. The imminent defeat of the Trinamool Congress is inevitable.
