BJP National President Shri Jagat Prakash Nadda ji expressed his heartfelt thanks to Hon'ble PM Shri Narendra Modi ji for reducing the excise duty on petrol-diesel and giving subsidy on LPG & agricultural fertilizers

Media address of Hon'ble National President Shri Jagat Prakash Nadda ji:

The Bharatiya Janata Party government under the leadership of our Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji is giving a Pro-Active, Pro-Responsive & Pro-Poor government and is highly committed to improve living standard of all sections of our society and to empower poor and weaker sections of our society.

We saw an example of this when in the past 6 months our Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji has for the second time announced a steep cut in the excise duty on petrol and diesel. While excise duty on petrol has been cut by Rs 8 per litre, the reduction of excise duty on diesel is Rs 6 per litre. The Union government will have to face an additional financial burden of Rs 1 lakh crore per annum due the excise cut , but it will directly benefit the common man.

The Narendra Modi Government through the Pradhanmantri Ujjwala Yojna has decided to give subsidies worth Rs.200 this year to over 9 crore beneficiaries in every gas cylinder. Through this decision the Narendra Modi Government will be giving Rs 2400 per annum to everyone from the 9 crore beneficiaries, which means that Rs.6,100 crore the Narendra Modi Government will spend on this pro poor scheme.

I as the National President of the Bharatiya Janata Party and on behalf of the crores of my party workers heartily thank and congratulate our Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji for this path breaking and pro poor initiative which will make lives easier for crores of people across India including common man and poor people, our mothers and daughters. This important intervention of our Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji will bring much needed relief and succor to crores of Indians.

For us the welfare of the people of the country is our top priority. On November 3, 2021 the Narendra Modi Government had reduced excise duty of Rs.10 per litre on petrol and Rs.5 per litre on diesel. Despite such harsh geopolitical circumstances and during these challenging times our Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji during the past 6 months has provided relief of Rs.18 per litre on petrol and Rs.11 per litre on diesel thus giving much relief to common man. In October 2017 the Narendra Modi Government had given a relief of Rs.2.43 per litre on petrol and Rs.2.17 per litre on diesel, while on October 5, 2018 a price cut of Rs.2.50 per litre was given on both petrol and diesel.

Apart from giving relief on prices of petrol , diesel and cooking gas, the Narendra Modi Government has given major relief to our farmers by giving an additional subsidy of Rs.1.10 lakh crores on fertilizers despite rising costs of fertilizers globally. This is apart from the Rs 1.05 lakh crores subsidy on fertilizers announced in the Union Budget.

This way, the Narendra Modi Government is giving a subsidy of Rs.2.15 lakh crores on fertilizers to our farmers. I commend and congratulate the pro farmer Bharatiya Janata Party government at the Centre and also thank our Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji for taking care of our farmers and improving their lives.

I want to draw your attention towards an important point that when our Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji had reduced the prices of petrol and diesel on November 3, 2021, the Opposition-ruled states did not reduce VAT on petrol and diesel, thus deprived people in these states of the benefits of the cut in duty. But on the other hand all the BJP -ruled states had passed on this benefit to their citizens.

Our Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji during his review meeting with Chief Ministers on April 27, 2022 he had appealed to all the Chief Ministers to cut the VAT on petrol and diesel in order to provide relief to common man.

I once again appeal to all State governments, particularly those states which have not passed on the benefits of rate cut announced in November 2021, to their citizens, to rise above their politics and reduce VAT on diesel and petrol prices to give relief to the common man in their respective States.

I once again thank and congratulate our Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji for taking this historical initiative and making this important announcement which will provide big relief to the people across India.
