Bharatiya Janata Party Mahila Morcha National President Smt Vanathi Srinivasan & National Spokesperson Shri Tom Vadakkan addressed a joint press conference at the party’s headquarters in New Delhi on Sunday. During the press conference, Smt Vanathi Srinivasan accused the ruling DMK party in Tamil Nadu of having close ties with arrested drug trafficker Jaffer Sadiq. She criticized the government's ignorance or deliberate involvement in drug-related business and demanded an explanation.  Shri Tom Vadakkan accused the INDI Alliance of associating with criminal activities and highlighted scams involving Congress and AAP in different states. Shri Vadakkan emphasized the urgent need to address the national issue of drug peddling.

BJP Mahila Morcha National President Smt. Vanathi Srinivasan stated that the ruling DMK government in Tamil Nadu has had a longstanding association with the film industry. Smt Srinivasan mentioned the arrest of former DMK member Jaffer Sadiq by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), highlighting reports indicating that he invested money earned through drug trafficking in various sectors, including hospitals and film production. She pointed out that Sadiq made political donations to the DMK party, and his family members are reportedly associated with several political parties allied with the DMK. Smt Srinivasan also highlighted the drug busts in Delhi by the Narcotic Control Bureau 2 weeks ago, along with the Delhi police, uncovered synthetic drug substances worth 2000 crore rupees, leading to the apprehension of several individuals involved in drug trafficking. The investigations have revealed several important information and network of drug trafficking.

Smt Vanathi Srinivasan highlighted that the alarming aspect is the repeated involvement of the accused person in drug trafficking cases. Notably, the same individual faced accusations in 2013 and was implicated in a Mumbai drug case in 2019. Despite this history, he was appointed as an office bearer in the ruling DMK party. Following the recent revelations, the party expelled him, and leaders are now distancing themselves, claiming ignorance of his connections and business dealings. Smt. Srinivasan also pointed out the involvement of CM MK Stalin's daughter-in-law, Kiruthiga Udhayanidhi, who directed a film produced by Jaffer Sadiq. His social media posts indicate close ties with the sports minister of the Tamil Nadu government, Udhayanidhi Stalin, who happens to be the son of the Chief Minister. Several ministers from the ruling party also appear to have close ties with Jaffer Sadiq.

BJP Mahila Morcha National President Smt Vanathi Srinivasan highlighted that, recently, the number of drug-related cases and seizures has seen a decrease, and the BJP strongly believes this is due to political and power connections. The accused individual, involved in illicit drug trafficking across various countries and holding a position in the ruling party, is suspected of establishing a robust network with police personnel. Smt Vanathi Srinivasan pointed out a picture where the Director General of Police is seen presenting an award to the accused person. This highlighted the current government's lack of awareness about individuals' backgrounds and raises questions about whether they are ignorant or intentionally involved in financial dealings for their businesses and film productions. Smt Srinivasan emphasized the need for the government to provide a public explanation regarding their connections with the accused person and address the circumstances surrounding the issue.

BJP Mahila Morcha National President stated that the Tamil Nadu BJP had already demanded a statement from the Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin about the very incident and the individual. Smt Vanathi Srinivasan highlighted that the drug issue has been a severely big issue for the teenagers not just in Tamil Nadu but nationwide, especially in Punjab. The issue has to be dealt with serious concerns, similar to the country’s security. Smt Srinivasan emphasized that under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the central government is taking various measures for the prevention of the issue, after the seizure in Delhi, another seizure took place in the coastal areas of Gujarat. Political power connections are being utilized by individuals involved in such activities and out of the bad money they attempt to buy votes and hamper the essence of the democracy of the nation.  Smt Srinivasan appealed to Tamil Nadu chief minister to extend an explanation regarding the incident.

BJP National Spokesperson Shri Tom Vadakkan stated that the DMK has found a new abbreviation, i.e, Drug Marketing Kazhagam. Stalin and company reduced the government of Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam from development of Dravidian culture into Drug Marketing Kazhagam. Shri Vadakkan emphasized that Jaffer Sadiq is an NRI deputy organizer, and questioned the Tamil Nadu government as to why they select individuals to market drugs internationally. The international police must investigate such happenings and an alert must be sounded over the mastermind of the international cartel.

Shri Tom Vadakkan expressed that the figure of 3500 kg of drug material in the past years has come as a shock to him. He conveyed that it was not only a concerning issue just for Tamil Nadu but for the entire nation. The kind of drug peddling happening in Kerala seems more like a drug corridor including the states, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. Shri Vadakkan queried Rahul Gandhi and his 'Mohabbat ki Dukaan', suggesting whether he finds the drug cartel acceptable or if such alignment is what he seeks to introduce in Tamil Nadu. Anti-national and anti-social elements have been operating in Tamil Nadu, and given that Congress will be contesting in 9 seats in the state and 1 seat in Puducherry, it also bears the responsibility for prevention. Members of the INDI Alliance must provide explanations as to why all their allies are associated with criminal activities, and why most of these crimes occur within their constituencies. Including the Mahadev App and Liquor Scam in Chhattisgarh linked to the Congress, Land Scam involving Hemant Soren, Illegal Mining in Jharkhand with ties to the Congress, and the liquor scam in Delhi by the Aam Aadmi Party.

Bharatiya Janata Party National spokesperson questioned whether the Congress party and the INDI alliance are a part of the corrupt national bonding that has brought them together. In Tamil Nadu, a cartel has been found and investigation is being done exposing links that hot money from drug connections gets invested in hospitality and films in Hollywood and Bollywood. Every aspect of this matter warrants thorough examination, and an international investigation, involving agencies like the NIA, is imperative. Shri Vadakkan emphasized that the Tamil Nadu chief minister must be held accountable for addressing all raised questions, as this incident transcends mere political implications and concerns the national interest. Shri Vadakkan affirmed that the only individuals who could address the issue is Hon’ble Prime Minister and the Hon’ble Union Home Minister, once given another stance will make sure that the drug peddlers will be behind the bars. Shri Tom Vadakkan then underscored the urgency of putting an end to the national cancer of drug peddling.
