SALIENT POINTS OF THE JOINT PRESS CONFERENCE OF THE BJP NATIONAL SPOKESPERSON DR SAMBIT PATRA AND DELHI BJP PRESIDENT SHRI ADESH GUPTA

The kind of hearing that is going on in the Supreme Court on the issue of pollution, the kind of negative impact that pollution is doing to the health and future of our children, it is therefore imperative and important that we should shun politics over pollution and unitedly fight against this massive problem to secure our and our kids' future.

****************

But it is very sad scenario that we have to hold such press conference in Delhi. One state which is most affected by pollution in the country is Delhi.

****************

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is blaming Punjab and Haryana for pollution in the National Capital, but if root cause of pollution is stubble burning than maximum pollution should be in Punjab and Haryana and not in Delhi. Why is it that the air of Delhi is so polluted and its quality is worse? The reason is in Delhi is that in Delhi's air apart from pollution there is politics which is playing its role.  Something is seriously wrong somewhere.

****************

In Delhi to control pollution Arvind Kejriwal spent just Rs 40,000 but it spent more than four times on advertisement, to the tune of around Rs 16 crore.

****************

Arvind Kejriwal is busy travelling to Goa and Uttarakhand, but he spent just Rs 40,000 to tackle stubble burning and a whopping Rs 16 crore, four times than the actual efforts, on the advertisement on the so called efforts to control pollution in Delhi.

****************

In Delhi there is 30,000 hectares of agricultural land as per survey of 2011, out of which the free of cost bio decomposer solution spray free was to be done on 800 hectares of land . Out of this spray was done in just 744 hectares of land which benefitted 310 farmers. The entire spray was bought for Rs 40,000.

****************

To add 'gur' and 'besan' in this spray solution Rs 35,000 was spent, and then tractors were taken on rent to spray the solution on which Rs 13.20 lakh was spent. Another Rs 9.64 lakh was spent on pitching tents. A total of Rs 23.60 lakh were spent on this entire exercise. On advertisement Rs 15.80 crore was spent to educate farmers of other states about the spray solution.

****************

The Supreme Court has severely reprimanded the Delhi Government for trying to shift the blame of pollution on MCD . The Supreme Court has told the Delhi Government that there should be no attempt to shift blame of pollution crisis on others.

****************

The Supreme Court has even gone ahead and said that the Delhi Government should do an audit to know how much earnings is done and how much money is spent on advertisement out of it.

****************

The important issues which need to be discussed are how much earnings was there, how much money was spent on pollution control, and how much money was wasted on its advertisement.
